Someone said something about Andrew Symonds.....

Devin 2015-08-24 09:12:16

and how Australia put an end to his career just as he was getting going.

These were his last few innings in Test cricket:

26, 20, 0, 57, 37, 27, 0.

I don't know if it was Commie, and I can't remember the thread, but it had something to do with cricketers and indiscipline.

Just wanted to clarify matters. I don't think Symonds had the stuff in between the ears to be a consistent Test performer.

Symonds played a lot of important innings for Australia while he was there...You have to look at his runs in context of the partnerships that he was engaged in.

Ya'll need to stop looking at cricket through one eye.

Insn't that exactly what you used to do regarding Sarwan?

He was a brainless idiot who's lucky that Bucknor did him a few favours when he was the umpire.

Symonds was a good limited overs player. But it's obvious he wasn't good enough to be in that Aussie Test team.

Or to put it another way, he was the Aussie Tino Best but with a bit more talent for cricket. big grin

Kholi had figures like those on the last England tour.

you up in the NW Territories?

connection slow?

Those figures won't sum up his career though. More memorable than his failures in England are the repeated beatings he inflicted upon the Aussies in their own backyard.

but you are using a similar period to define another player!

Devin 2015-08-24 14:41:57

A similar period? That was the end of his career. Those were his last test scores against New Zealand and South Africa. He had two centuries in 41 innings, both of which came in Australia.

There is no proof to suggest that he was on some sort of upward swing and that his best was yet to come.

Six of his 10 half centuries came in Australia, three came in the West Indies. He was nothing but a flat track home bully. His average away from home was less than 35.
