The UK Guardian is reporting that Worcestershire have signed the West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel for the final two matches of their County Championship campaign.

The 27-year-old will replace the Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal, who is returning to his homeland after next week’s game against Sussex. Gabriel will be available to face Durham at Chester-le-Street and Middlesex at New Road, subject to the West Indies Cricket Board granting him a no objection certificate.

Gabriel said: “This will be my first taste of county cricket and I am looking forward to the challenge of keeping Worcestershire in Division One of the Championship. I know it is only for two matches but I am hoping to make a big contribution.”

Speed with some decent accuracy. That's something to work with

Happy and grateful . He needs to learn a bit more of the art of pace bowling , hopefully with this small stint something can be gained . An English team sees something that many here don't or do not care to see.

Probably the same thing the English people see in Otis and Chris Jordan that we couldn't see.

The more playing time Gabriel gets translates into more opportunity to learn and improve.

We need more players from the Caribbean playing in overseas tournaments, this is good for Gabriel and the WI, maybe he will learn a few technical tricks.
