Get your pics in first game starts tomorrow.
First game is today. Get your bets in
Cant believe that the vaunted seattle defense allowed 34 points in the first game. I mean they and the Rams usually play some really great games. But 34 points is a whole lot to give up in the first game.

Yeah but that's what makes the NFL so exciting to watch. The only thing that is predictable about this league is its unpredictability.
On a different note, i expect the Patriots to win the AFC East again but for the first time in a long time it won't be so easy. The Bills, Jets and Dolphins all have very good defenses.
Giants coach had a Pete Carrol moment
I must have got fewer than 5 correct picks on Opening Week. Man a lot of teams (especially my own) suck mightily.
In reply to Tryangle
Don't panic....yet, bro. It's only week 1. A lot can change by mid-season.
I can't recall seeing so many injuries to key players on the first day of an NFL season. Expect a lot of new signings in the coming days.
In reply to Priapus
players are bigger, stronger and hit harder than ever...soon NFL might have to do something about those big bone breaking hits
In reply to Priapus
Priapus how do u do it? Seriously. I am gonna change my strategy for opening week. I went 6-10. Granted, no one expected seattle to lose, the Giants should have beaten dallas and the eagles coughed it up against atlanta. I shoulda been 9-7. Oh well.
In reply to dale_staple
Atlanta & St.Louis f#%$!ked me up. For me, it was a toss up between Tennessee & Tampa Bay (i went with Tampa Bay). But as i said before , the unpredictability of the NFL is one of the reasons that make it so exciting.
I do not follow the stats predicting the favorite team in the upcoming matchups. I go by the previous season's team results and what players were brought in and who left during the off season. For example, the 49ers lost three key defensive players to retirement plus they cut Aldon Smith. So unless they're playing the Raiders, Browns or Jaguars, i'll most likely pick against them. It also helps to follow the news regarding player injuries in the week leading to the games on Sundays. For example, things were already iffy with the Redskins. Now the loss of DeSean Jackson has made it worse. He is their only weapon on offense.
When it comes to the playoffs i pick teams with a good defense and strong running game because of the weather conditions at that time. Like the saying goes ...."Offense wins games but defense wins championships".
Priapus must make ah killing on Draftkings or Fanduel
Only one person in the whole group picked Oakland to win yesterday.
Not a good week for the CC.com group, overall, heh.
In reply to Tryangle
I'm having a bad start to the season. I went 10-6 in week 1 & now 7-9 in week 2. I'm 17-15.....barely over .500. Damn!!
In reply to Priapus
All three of those teams won, coincidentally. Just that kind of mad mad weekend.
In reply to Tryangle
Yup. Hence my earlier comment about the unpredictability of the NFL.
So am expecting the gmen to come to life and send the skins home crying.....yeah or nay?
In reply to Ayenmol
They won last night but this is still a flawed team. No play-makers on offense apart from Beckham and they can't generate a pass rush. JPP did them no favors by blowing off a few fingers. Perhaps when Cruz comes back we may see a more potent offense but that will count for naught if the defense can't get to the QB.
In reply to Priapus
They lucky they faced the chiefs.
I think two guys got 15 right last week, I got 14... so maybe we've all learned from the Week 2 debacle
In reply to Tryangle
Trust me it will even out towards the latter part of the season. You see all the marquee players who are going down with injuries? This gives teams with lesser talent a bigger chance of pulling an upset.
Apparently Streator does not know what a collar is....
aMERICAN FOOTBALL HAS GOTTEN BORING

Some of the games this year have been unwatchable. I always thought that the watered down rules with all the emphasis on offense was a bad idea. There's drama in a low score game when the defense is playing great and guys are scrapping. In the absence of offense withut the hard nosed defense of the past it just seems sloppy and lacks any drama.
The game last night was dramatic because of the defenses relentlessly going after the qb and the two Carolina lb and their athleticism and hard hitting capability.
In reply to ray
Lots of mediocre teams this year. The AFC South division is the worst. It looks increasingly like a Patriots vs. Packers Superbowl. It would be a major upset if neither of these teams make it to the big game.
I think it's at least interesting that teams that were last season downright horrible, are at the very worst, competitive. That being Jax, Oakland, TB, Cleveland. Although I agree, there is a ton of mediocrity and maybe no more than 5 teams that are playing quality ball in most aspects (NE, GB, Cinci, Carolina, Zona) with a 6th (Denver) being great enough on D to get it done.
Like always though, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Maybe a healthy Big Ben makes the Steelers a contender again, for example.
I got ONE game right so far this week
In reply to ray
I got three. Dang!! Just like the Dallas Cowboys I'm having a terrible season. Who on here saw the Lions defeating the Packers?
In reply to ray
Dang!! 3-11 for last week after the Monday night game. The Bengals no longer unbeaten thanks to the Texans of all teams. SMH.
In reply to Priapus
I am stinking up the joint this year. I am normally middle of the or at least near the top 10, but this year has been a bust. So many upsets its not funny.
In reply to dale_staple
yeah bro i get you. I've finished 2nd the past two seasons. This season i have never gotten past the mid-table rankings. It looks like a lost season for me.
Wow, guys. We really stunk it up this week. The top scorer got all of 7 correct picks. Lets try this again
So the tradition of leaping into the stands in Greenback jhas been labeled the Lambeau leap...
So what`should an appropriate name for the Panthers handing the ball to young spectators be?
Panther handoff?
Carolina handoff?
Feeding the cubs?
Cub handoff?
Wow Detroit....man I thought I had lost that one, but from the second quarter I thought this was gonna end like this. Both Detroit and Cleveland are always at risk of this type of finish it seems.
Well I think I picked the Packers.....
In reply to Ayenmol
If the Seahawks play at the end of last year's Superbowl was the worst play ever called, then the penalty at the end of last night's game was the dumbest penalty ever.
BTW i picked the Lions. At 17-0 at half time i went to bed. I couldn't believe my eyes when i saw the highlights this morning. SMH.
In reply to Priapus
I had given up...but watched to the bitter end. I was so happy. It was late at night so the celebration had to be somewhat muted.
The penalty was kinda ticky tack still. But even so, it was not the penalty that cost Detroit. It was their utter failure to properly defend the hail mary. Every team practices hail mary plays. The Defenders are supposed to box out all the opponents receivers and simply knock the ball away. They allowed Richard Rodgers to get in the end zone late, then get position on them, then catch the ball basically unmolested. That is entirely on Detroit.
In reply to dale_staple
I beg to differ. With time expired, and your opponent at it's own 20-yard line, there is absolutely no reason to commit a defensive penalty as the game cannot end on a defensive penalty. The penalty gave the Packers an additional 15 yards and this made the difference in Rodgers heaving the ball into the end zone as opposed to, say, the Lions 5-yard line.
In reply to Priapus
Lol....Same thing happened to me Monday with Cleveland....oh well.
In reply to Priapus
But...that was a hell of a throw. 68 yards with a high arc. Wow.
In reply to dale_staple
Indeed it was. Arm strength.....one of things scouts look for at the Combine before the draft.
WTF just happened with Minnesota? That's why you should never trust kickers. SMH.
Well , Well..i made my picks for every game of the regular season and playoffs. But guess what? I forgot to pick the biggest game of them all..SMH. Not that it would have made a difference to my final ranking. Ah well...The clock is ticking towards opening night of the 2016 season. Congrats to Dillweeds for emerging Champion.
In reply to Priapus
Thanks... Most people picked Carolina so the Super Bowl had pretty much no effect..
In reply to sb1
True. I just love it when the talking heads/expert analysts are proven wrong. I don't understand why former coaches and players who now work in the media feel obliged to pick their former teams knowing full well that said teams are horrible.
