You were born in Kingston Jamaica, How did the transition from Jamaica to England happen?
I was born in Kingston, Jamaica. My father had been living in England for a while and I lost my mother when I was six. So I had to stay with my grandmother in Jamaica who brought me up. When I was around 17, I joined my father in England. Around 1979-80 I came to England as a student and joined Richmond College.
Who were your fast bowling heroes growing up in the Caribbean?
I grew up in the West Indies following the great West Indian team of the 1970’s. I used to listen to radio commentary and the commentators described this bowler who used to run in from the boundary and bowled really quick, I was naturally attracted to that description and I tried to mimic the action, That up and coming fast bowler was Michael Holding. I obviously wanted to emulate him and started to run a lot faster when bowling during the early days.

Was the story Tony Cozier told us journalists when rain interrupted play during the Celkon cup in 2013. I enjoyed listening to Cozier and at one point felt pissed off that the game was going to start since he had to go to the commentary.

Nope. He was not. He was dropped in the England Series I think. When Lara scored that 400.. I don't recall either.

Was at the Kensington Oval test when Viv took him on. He was bowling fast. Viv then was a little older but the shot thru the covers was probably one of the hardest hit balls I had seen. Remember Viv trying to hit him into Pickwick Gap. He just keep on coming. Carlise Best though put on a show in that test. The amount of time he had to play was a thing of beauty. He also had a running conversation with himself throught his innings. Wish Best had came in a later time. One that we didn't get a chance to see enough of. Ambi ran through them in the second innings.

Good work Veny Babu. When you interviewing Ganga ask him to talk to us about the England series...he would know what you talking about.
