BCCI chief Manohar wants end to 'bullying' Big 3

Narper 2015-11-27 21:19:47

BCCI president Shashank Manohar, who is also the ICC chairman, has criticised the imbalance of power within cricket's governing body because of the constitutional revamp last year, which gave the boards of India, England and Australia greater authority and a larger share of the revenue

Manohar called the revamp "bullying", and said there were several faults in the ICC that he hoped to rectify during his term as chairman, which ends in June 2016.

"I don't agree with the three major countries bullying the ICC," Manohar told the Hindu. "That's my personal view, because as I have always said, an institution is bigger than individuals. You cannot guarantee which individual will occupy the top position in either of these countries. And, the ICC constitution, as it stands today, says that in all the major committees of the ICC, these three countries will be automatically there. So all the financial and commercial aspects and the executive committee will be controlled by the representatives of these three countries, which according to me is wrong. You should have the best man, whether he comes from Zimbabwe, or West Indies, or even from an associate or affiliate to work on a committee, who will promote the interests of the ICC."

It would give me great Joy , to see that the International Cricket Cabal
being replaced by the International Cricket Council .

Mr. Manohar , of the BCCI apparently is a rare person , in the International
Cricket Cabal . Mr. Manohar I salute you for demonstrating that you
are a man with Integrity . Having 3 Countries getting the Lion share financially of the ICC , in my opinion , borders close to being a Criminal act .

It is my hope & expectation that YOU
would ensure that the ICC has a strict Code of Conduct for ALL its Members . The ICC for years has allowed the West Indies Cricket Board
of Control to become a Rogue Cricket Board .

The WICBC is Perpetually mired in Controversy ,& Bad Publicity , its
Arrogance , Autocratic Style ; Incompetence ; Ineptness ; Lack of
Foresight & Vision , its total lack
of Business Acumen is Legendary .

The ICC is always quick on the trigger in sanctioning & Discipling its Associate Members .But is seemingly oblivious to the many Faults & Flaws of the WICBC .

As a result of this attitude , the
ICC has allowed the WICBC to stray off the Reservation to the point where the WICBC is essentially a Rogue International Cricket Board that apparently has the approval of the ICC to do as it pleases regarding its Governance of Cricket in the Region .

Having different policies for Associate Members and Full Members Stinks to High Heaven . Let me remind all & Sundry , when the WICBC tarnishes its image to the Public at large , like it or not , the image of the ICC is also tarnished .

Like Narps Said, it is good to have some fairness discussion by a ICC leader atlast. Over the past few years it has all been about money and power. I welcome his intent but will wait how things move along.

I hope it's genuine, but will need to see it pan out first

It sounds genuine, but I like you await to see if any changes occur.
He most likely will face backlash from those who feel different. However, if he can get support from the others who not in control.

I'm very surprised at you big grin

Manohar came in on a conflict of interest ticket and now is saying he can be both BCCI and ICC chairman. Of course he would say what he is saying now

I agree with your assessment . The stench is obviously becoming unbearable . I hope that they would focus on the Maladministration of the absolutely
Worst International Cricket Board in the World , aka the WICBC .

Who is this dude kidding. Was it not BCCI who triggered a revamp of the constitution causing the imbalance of power? shock shock shock shock

At this rate, I don't care who blows it all up, it just needs to get blown up.

You can't make this stuff up. The people in charge never give up power unless forced to. Nothing will change unless something or someone forces change. The big 3 will NEVER say "this system is not right we need to give away our power".

It is the same reason we can't get any change in the WICB.
