ICC Press Release:
The International Cricket Council today confirmed that an independent assessment has found the bowling action of West Indies Sunil Narine to be illegal and, as such, the off-spinner has been suspended from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect.
In accordance with Article 6.1 of the regulations, Narine’s international suspension will also be recognised and enforced by all National Cricket Federations within domestic cricket events played in their own jurisdiction, save that, with the consent of the West Indies Cricket Board, Narine may be able to play in domestic cricket events played under the auspices of the West Indies Cricket Board.
The assessment revealed that all variations of his deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the regulations.
Narine was reported after the third ODI match against Sri Lanka in Pallekele in November.
The player can apply for a re-assessment after modifying his bowling action in accordance with clause 2.4 of the Regulations for the Review of Bowlers Reported with Suspected Illegal Bowling Actions.
The test was performed on Tuesday, 17 November at the ICC’s accredited testing centre in Loughborough University.

Everytime I warned about this the Chrissy's of this world started talk of Peltingford and Flingingford to deflect away from the obvious issue.
Redbaron must be stewing into his doubles.
Now we are at this point.
Maybe we can hear from Chrissy and imusic on this conspiracy.

Larr is just saddened by the throngs of Indians and Non-Indians alike who have been "bamboozled" by Narine over the years including poor Devon Facting Smith.....were it not for Narine, Devon would have locked up that WI test opening spot..

It seems like the authorities are only interested in off spinners, makes you wonder, are any other type bowlers being closely looked at.I am certain that there are many playing tests, who should be tested.

Narine was playing against Sri Lanka after a gap of more than a year in international cricket, and finished with four wickets from three ODIs at an average of 18. He is currently the No. 1 ranked bowler in the ICC rankings for ODIs and T20Is.
Narine should sue Cameron and the WICB for including him in the WI team leading to this unfortunate exposure.
After all, the man did honorably recuse himself from WI selection.

Shillingford has been cleared to bowl. WI just don't want any more drama with him. That makes sense. Anytime these guys bowl over long spells which being WI spinner is a certainty, their action reverts back to habit.

I vividly remember the joy expressed by some on this board on the two occasions when Shilly was suspended. Peltingford, Flingingford were some of the names being used and it was bitter.
I will not resort to those attacks but would like to wish Narine the best.

Not as easy to do as you think. For someone who has been bowling that way his whole career, to suddenly start over with a new action would be next to impossible. Dont forget that he tried to modify his action before and was still found to be illegal.

What another big embarrassment for west Indies Cricket! Why do we have to go through this embarrassment when we have produced two top ICC umpires in the persons of Steve Buckner and
the one from Dominica? I mean the problem of Narine, Shilling and Samuel should have been corrected long before they played for West Indies, because we all knew they were pelting before they played for West Indies. In the case of Shilling, Buckner called him long time in a first class game for pelting and instead of helping the young man, we brought in the small island big island dispute.
That's another reason I have always advocated for the WICB to spend their money wisely and instead of giving those big retainers contracts to players, some of whom might never be considered for WI selection, it would be a much better investment to have X players and umpires go to our elementary and High schools, to identify cricketers and help them correct problems before they even make it to first class level.

Ashwin and Starc plays for 2 of the big 3 alliance. They're unlikely to be called. As for Steyn? Hmmmm...let's see how much longer it takes the ICC to drop the ban hammer on him.

Tough luck for Sunil.
His action did not appear suspect to me. It certainly looked better than that of several other bowlers around, including at least one who played for Lanka in that same ODI series in which Sunil was reported.
Anyway, Sunil was tested and found to be exceeding the limit, and we can't argue with that. You have to wonder why, however, aren't many others tested. You can't help wondering if the top performers are being scrutinized more than others.
You have to wonder too why was Sunil not reported by umpires in WI domestic competitions.
The WI T20 strategy was built around Sunil and without him WI will fall quickly to the bottom of the T20 game.

The 27-year-old was reported following the third One-Day International against Sri Lanka earlier this month and after undergoing testing at the Loughborough University on November 17, his action was found to exceed the 15 degrees level of tolerance on all variations of his deliveries.
Narine will be allowed to play in West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) tournaments but will be forced to curtail all other international commitments. He is currently campaigning in the Bangladesh Premier League and will now have to abort his campaign for Comilla Victorians. He was expected to leave Dhaka last night

Its a bit suspicious of these calls on effective spinners. That said if Adjaml , Narine and other effective spin bowlers want to continue their respective careers there in only one thing to do . Remodel , practice and retest . We need him in the T20 world cup if we want to be a contender .

Doesn't look like Cooper learnt anything from the Aus exercise tho. Looks like WICB (or TTCB?) assumed that was enough to silence critics.
