Shimron Hetmyer, the West Indies captain, had contributed all of 23 runs in four innings going into the quarterfinals of the Under-19 World Cup. When the heat was on, he led the way with a sparkling half-century that helped West Indies chase down Pakistan's 227 for 6 by five wickets in Fatullah to set up a semifinal date with hosts Bangladesh.
That meant Umair Masood's fighting 113 and his 164-run stand for the sixth wicket with Salman Fayyaz that helped Pakistan stage a remarkable recovery from 57 for 5 went in vain as West Indies chased down the target with 10 overs to spare.
Chemar Holder, the pacer who flew into Dhaka only two days ago as a replacement for the injured Obed McCoy, did the early damage by dismissing Zeeshan Malik, the Pakistan captain, and Shadab Khan inside six overs. Things continued to slide as Alzarri Joseph, the pacer who clocked the fastest ball of the tournament at 147 clicks, dismissed Mohammad Umar to leave Pakistan's top three back in the hut inside nine overs.

well done guys...I didn't expect this team to reach the semis.

No I didn't either...I suspect they may run into a brick wall against Bangladesh but I have to say what interests me more is identifying new talent...it seems to me that there are 4 or 5 players on this team that look to be genuine prospects and that has also surprised me
I really hope I'm wrong...lets hope that they can progress further still .

Getting past PAK showed they deserved to be in the QF and will hush the critics who call them cheaters.
Getting into the finals will bring that right back up.
In reply to nick2020... correction, only idiots would call them cheaters. Again, they did not cheat. Stop it.
Their abilities are coming through now, but to get in the finals they have to be a little more disciplined with bat and ball.Allowing Pak to get over 200 from 57/5 with that kid getting a 100, even though he deserved it in the end,is not acceptable. I still believe their game plan is not what it should be, and the batsmen have T20 riches in the back of their mind, CB adding fuel to their dreams.
Holder call up seems to be a master set though and I think they can upset Bangla.
