HEADLINE: ICC criticsies West Indian players behaviour

CaribbeanCricket.com 2016-04-25 13:47:44

The ICC Board held its second meeting of 2016 at the ICC Headquarters in Dubai on 24 April. Among the decisions made and reports received were:

ICC World Twenty20 India 2016

The Board congratulated the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for completing an unprecedented treble by winning the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2016 as well as women’s and men’s titles at the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016.

The Board also complemented the BCB and the BCCI for the successful staging of these events and also thanked its broadcasters, commercial partners, fans and media for their support in making these events a success from a fan engagement perspective.

The Board considered the behavior of some of the West Indies players in the immediate aftermath of the final, and unanimously agreed that certain comments and actions were inappropriate, disrespectful and brought the event into disrepute. The Board acknowledged an apology by the WICB but was disappointed to note that such behavior had detracted from the success of what was otherwise a magnificent tournament and final.

Old boys club. Nothing on investigating the grouses that caused the behaviour. Nothing about the behaviour of the WICBandits. What a joke.

The ICC was quite clear on the subject of Government interference

The Board maintained that it doesn’t accept government interference in the affairs of its Members as it wants all its Members to work independently with the best intentions of promoting and developing the game in their respective territories in accordance with the ICC’s objectives and strategy.

That Sammy mentioned the prime minister of Grenada at a Premier ICC event was a grave error ,it was contrary to the desire and directives of the ICC.

The ICC did the right thing in congratulating the WICB. It's the WICB's place to in turn congratulate the players, even if belatedly.

In reply to DrapseyWhy couldn't ICC congratulate the players and then the board?

The board runs the cricket not the players

With all due Respect your last paragraph is sheer nonsense . The funny
thing is that The WICBC from its inception in the Region , was not in
control of this version of the game for
our Senior Men Players .

The ICC needs to be thoroughly investigated . I has never admonished
its Members for refusing to implement Reforms , or advocated that Players be treated fairly .

It too is living in the Past , word has apparently not got to them that:

" MASSA DAYS DONE "

It has perpetually coddled its members who are bad Stewards of Cricket blithely unaware that its
image is tarnished . Perhaps why 3 of its Members decided to Hijack most of the Profits of the International
Cricket Cabal , by giving the 7 Foolish Members Crumbs .

In the Eyes of the Cricket World the
ICC has made itself the most despicable Sports Entity in the World

Evidently , many seem unaware of this
fact :

THE WICBC DOES NOT OWN CRICKET

IN THE REGION IT IS ONLY THE STEWARD

OF CRICKET IN THE REGION .

Recently , the Supreme Court in India
told the BCCI the same thing . Governments can if they want sue any
Cricket Board if it has a cause to do that . I believe that can include the
International Cricket Cabal , which is simply an amalgamation of International Cricket Boards .

The Only thing that Governments cannot do is run Cricket Boards on a full time basis . In this Forum I have often cited the fact that on 4 separate occasions the President of Pakistan fired the PCB , appointed a
Chairman ; and an Ad Hoc Committee to run Cricket in Pakistan until there was fresh Elections for Officers on the PCB .

Why is it that the ICC is not appearing in Supreme Court of India
on behalf of the BCCI ,in the matter with the BCCI Et Al ??
since Governments cannot intervene in Cricket .

In the matter in Guyana , involving the Guyana Cricket Board , the ICC &
the WICB were No where to be seen or heard ???

I expected both of them to
show up on behalf of the GCB especially since they brag about having so much power .

Sammy made some emotional comments at the wrong time. A leader should exercise control and diplomacy when speaking in front of the world, Sammy did not.

Some West Indians believe that the tail should wag the dog, and that management are unnecessary, and we could succeed without discipline. IMO, these conclusions are the fallacious offsprings of slavery and colonialism. And hence the reason we cheer the "Go F$$K Yourself Boss" types..

And yes, the Prima Donna players have grievances too, but they should be mindful that they are some of the riches men in the Caribbean today, because of early training from the WICB and local boards..

And the last time I checked, the ICC was still in charge of world cricket, and players were picked by their respective boards.. And the world turns..And men will wail that they are not making enough money...And they should be running the ship...

When the Members agreed to allow India
Australia , & England to hijack most of the ICC Profits by offering the other
7 members promises & Crumbs . The International Cricket Cabal , lost what little credibility it used to enjoy
in the World .

Even people in England were outraged
by the hijacking , they were of the perspective that more money should be spent in fostering the game throughout the Commonwealth .

Now this was on TV it sure aint a figment of my imagination . Imagine
the British People were appalled of the fact that the English Cricket Board played a prominent part in this hijacking .

For all the problems within FIFA, at least it's a democratic organisation. The ICC on the other hand, is virtually autocratic.

Tryangle 2016-04-26 08:59:03

On another note, two other interesting developments:

The situation with Nepal - will the ICC be as invested with restoring things there as they have with USA? Pound for pound, there's no contest with regard to passion for the game, however the Americans have a far bigger 'untapped' audience.

Afghanistan and Ireland getting special treatment could mean the ICC is trying to create a chasm between those teams and the other dozens of Associates. Will those countries' boards stop carrying the torch for the other Associates now that they've been given a few sweeties by the ICC? Why nothing for the other ODI-status nations?

I think he was just foolish enough to be egged on and used as a tool by his more affluent team mates. The captaincy label got him sold on the idea that he was the right man to do it...
