CPL Finals weekend may move from Guyana to T&T

Apparently negotiations are still ongoing.

Interesting that last year the CPL got US$3.5M from T&T and this year was accepting only US$2M (reportedly) from Guyana.

Its true the cost of living in Guyana is lower than T&T, but as much as by half?

I do not trust those CPL statistics on revenue/value though. The last two years I did the CPL online survey which asked how much money I spent on attending matches, accommodation, transportation etc.. and if those surveys are their main data source then its seriously flawed.

The T&T government’s idea of paying the local bills as their investment to hosting the matches was as a result of the recession the country is undergoing at the moment and keeping the money here would have led to movement in the local economy even if it was for a short period

Please give it to T&T... for the sake of their economy

The government probably knows that the quoted local bills is actually much lower than reported because why then the CPL who says 'the direct spend by CPL' was US$3.84M not choose to have that bill covered?

Its because of accountability - the government would need to see a breakdown of everything and the CPL probably just does not want to give that up.

This CPL thing has the feel of a con.

So a Guyana Chronicle article says that T&T has won the bid.. but the article seems to just repeat the contents of the source posted here. There is nothing on the CPL twitter/website as yet.

I posted speculation, and up to this post I'm correct. I'll believe it when I hear it from the CPL's mouth.. and according to PJ's link, negotiations are still ongoing.

Careful when reading articles from Vinode Manchand at TT Guardian. Sometimes he gets confused and writes as fact things he wishes were really facts.

Guyana confirmed that they are not in teh bidding war. Seems like the CPL peeps are trying to play each country against each other to up the fee.

Looks like Soulja Bai instructed Rupert to NOT want or care for it...Soulja Bai is not willing to spend a cent on it....all available monies are going into the 50 th independence anniversary...cricket is not on the agenda
