Interesting development-I knew The Chinese had taken an interest in the sport but didn't know the Japanese were playing it as well.

The Chinese are optimistic that in about 10yrs, they will be competing with the `big ones`, N meh nah joke!

If cricket becomes an Olympic sport, I'd bet on China being at least a decent Associate Member by then. And with their population/potential revenue earnings, the ICC will be sure to fast-track their growth.

Probably a bit optimistic . However I do think it can develop and take hold in China as most of those taking up the game seem to be locals as opposed to cricket-playing expats from Aus, Eng, Ind etc(as is the case in many other non-traditional cricketing countries).
a team of 11 chinaman bowlers!

There have been a few cricketers of Chinese descent to play first class cricket and a couple have gone on to play test cricket-namely Ellis Achong(after whom the term 'chinaman' was coined) and Herbert Chang. Richard Chee Quee played for a state in Australia-there have been others.
A while back one of the posters on this forum provided a link to an article on the history of Guyanese sportsman of Chinese ancestry of which a number were cricketers if I remember correctly.
