Sloane Stephens plays one of the last matches today....
In reply to mikesiva
Lots of matches postponed because of rain
In reply to Chrissy
Dustin brown will continue tomorrow leading dudi sela two sets to one after playing the shot of the day - a hot dog for a winner!
In reply to mikesiva
Did not see this! Look forward to the resumption.
//
In reply to Ewart
Here it is
He's second up on Court 14, weather permitting, after Sloane Stephens.
More rain in the forecast....
In reply to mikesiva
Thank you sir! You tried!
But they say it is not available in my geographical area.
//
In reply to Ewart
Try this one
Sloane Stephens beat Gasparyan at four and three...Dustin up next on Court 14.
In reply to mikesiva
Got it! Thanks.
//
In reply to Ewart
Dustin won 6-7,6-4,7-6.4-6,6-4.
Both Williams sisters are scheduled to be in action today, along with Madison Keys....
Good!

In reply to Ewart
Keys won her first-round match at three and two, while Venus needed two tiebreakers to get past her opponent.
Serena beat her opponent at two and love.
Kerber and Azarenka also knocked out!
Serena will be pleased....
number 23 seed American jack sock beat Dustin brown in straight sets
the Williams sisters won their women's doubles match at two and two.
Serena twisted her ankle during this match.
Sloane Stephens won her second round match 7-6,6-1.
both Williams sisters advance to the third round of the singles with identical two and one victories over their respective opponents. No sign of any ankle injury for Serena.
Madison keys beat her opponent at three and two.
It's back to the same old Sloane Stephens, easily beaten at two and one by Pironkova....
both Williams sisters advance to the fourth round of the women's singles with hard fought wins over French opposition.
In reply to mikesiva
Some thing is wrong with Sloane. She does not show any fire, any spirit. She looks... well... depleted.
//
Serena won today.
And Venus! 7:6, 1:6, and 6:0 over Cornet, a bright little French player.
//
Well done Venus. When it reach set 3 with Venus I usually run out of hope so I am very happy that my dread did not materialize
In reply to Ewart
Madison Keys won her match against Puerto Rico's Monica Puig in two hard-fought sets.
In reply to Oilah
the Williams sisters were knocked out of the doubles beaten three and three by Larson and bertens in the third round.
Draw opens right up as Halep and Aggie both fall.
In reply to Tryangle
the fourth round finally got under way after two days of rain. Serena won but both Venus and Madison keys go out.
In reply to mikesiva
Too bad. Madison has been playing well... and so has Venus - until today.
//
In reply to Ewart
I can't see anybody stopping Serena from reaching the final. However, the final should be a much stiffer test, against either Muguruza or Stosur.
In reply to mikesiva
Great match today
In reply to Chrissy
Serena up against Putinseva in the quarter-finals now....
Another rain delay....
Level at 1-1 in the first set.
Back on again...Serena's not enjoying the wet conditions and the heavy balls.
The Kazakh takes the first set 7-5.
Serena is playing really badly. She needs to get going now.
In reply to Hants
Phew...that was a close one. Serena takes the second set 6-4.
Serena in a real ding dong... just manages to win the 2nd set!
In reply to NineMiles
Serena might be able to serve better than Venus, return better than Venus, cover the court better than Venus...but Venus is a much better volleyer than Serena!
In reply to mikesiva
Agree... Venus' game is more pleasing to the eyes
Easy final set win for Serena and on course for #22
In reply to NineMiles
Think Dukes will make a reappearance when #22 happens?
Maybe he will give me a shout out too
In reply to nick2020
Not, if he's convinced Hillary will lose to Sanders in California.
In reply to mikesiva
Is Serena you talkin bout bro....
In reply to NineMiles
Carl Hooper then.
In reply to JahJah
In reply to Kay
Actually, I disagree...Serena's game is more pleasing to the eye. Her service action is poetry in motion, and her strokes are much more well-timed. It's just that Serena looks so uncomfortable at the net, compared to Venus.
Serena up against Kiki Bertens in the semis shortly....
Serena wins 7-6,6-4 in a hard-fought encounter.
She will need to step up in gear against a much-improved Muguruza in the final.
Final now....
Muguruza breaks first, and it's 3-2 in the first set.
Serena breaks back, and it's 4-4.
In reply to mikesiva
Serena needs to take the pace off her serve and strokes against this girl to disrupt her rhythm!
Looks very sluggish
In reply to StumpCam
Muguruza takes the first set 7-5...more drop shots needed. The Spaniard doesn't move around the court as well as Serena does. This power play just plays into Muguruza's hands. She doesn't have to move much.
This done! Serena doesn't play well from behind.
In reply to Larr Pullo
New kid on the block beating the veteran at her game! The oldest story in sports!
In reply to StumpCam
Muguruza moves 4-2 up in the second....
Serena played below her normal standard and lost.
The last point says it all. Serena needs to refocus and re energize.
In reply to Hants
Come on man at 34 that's to be expected. She'll get the record but it's no longer automatic
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Chrissy is attributing the loss to the passing of Ali.
In reply to Devin
Wuh. Loss
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
That means 2 more.
