Take out Roach and put in Bishoo possibly.
Lewis on standby as an opener not in d squad though.
Carlos? Don't think there is a place for him with Jason there but he will be in the squad.
And I wouldn't play Samuels in Tests anymore, goodbye to him. He stays in ODIS though.

Tell us why you would replace an experience batsman for someone with little batting experience.

Link.

While Samuels is on this superb run in ODIs, his overall numbers in this format, as also in Tests, need to improve dramatically if he is to be counted among West Indies' top few batsmen. In these last three years, while his ODI average has lifted to beyond 50, his Test average remains poor at 25.14. In his last nine innings, he has scored 65 runs at an average of 7.22. Those are hardly the numbers that befit West Indies' senior-most batsman and the mainstay of their middle order.

BeatDball 2016-06-27 05:54:43

Blackwood not a surety? Wow! Ahyuh good....however, vsingh can always replace him if he doesn't step it up!

The pitches will play a huge roll as the set up of the squad. Recent history has shown that our pitches have gotten slow and low which will support the slower bowlers. Therefore, it will be essential to have at least two spinners, preferably an off break and leg break bowler to balance the attack. We MUST be able to take 20 wickets in a test match to be competitive. Also India will have a few spin bowlers of their own and our batters selected MUST be able to play spin and bat for long periods. So having said that whom are you all really going to select to compete with India? I have some choices of my own but it's difficult to choose from a limited list.

The problem with picking a Test XI is finding players who have actually played competitive cricket recently. And by cricket I don't mean T20 or 50 overs.
So except for players who play all the formats like Ramdin, Samuels and Holder; the rest will be a lottery.

Logic 2016-06-27 15:12:24

In reply to Pacy

Not bad, like your squad, except at the lower end. I have had it with Taylor and Roach for now so I am prepared to roll the dice on the other some inexperienced pacers. Blackwood is just not credible as an international cricketer to me so I replace him with Hope who has continued to score runs regionally and is a credible alternative to Ramdin as keeper/batsman.

Kraig brathwaite
Evin Lewis
Leon Johnson
Darren bravo
Samuels
Rawston chase
Ramdin
Holder
Bishoo
Cummins/Joseph
Gabriel

Hope
Pollard

NB. Alzarri Joseph should be called up to train alongside the squad to get some more knowledge

Andy99 2016-06-28 11:10:08

My XI given players available and who played in the Tri-series:

Braithwaite
LJohnson
Bravo
Chase
Pollard
Ramdin
Carlos
Holder
Narine
Bishoo
Gabriel

Lewis standby as an opener
Dowrich back up keeper
Hope back up middle order bat
Lacking back ups in the spin and pace departments, there are players but just no one standing out. If Guyana didn't unjustifiably drop Motie I'd have him as my back up Spinner.
Wait I forgot Taylor so take out Bishoo and put Taylor and have Chase as the 2nd spinner support by Kraigg.
So Bishoo back up spinner just missing a back up pacer.

analyst-kid 2016-06-28 11:56:48

I like Logic's team ..but I would drop Bishoo for young Joseph and unleash the new four prong of Gabriel,Joseph,Cummins and Holder at the Indians. Narine with Chase and Brathwaite backing up in the spin department.

You are not going to beat India with spinners.

goliath 2016-06-28 12:32:10

In reply to analyst-kid Keep Bishoo, Play Joseph but discard Cummins...this would give us Gabriel, Joseph, Holder (and Carlos) for pace but have Narine and Bishoo (and Chase) as spinning options since our pitches more support spin bowlers than fast bowlers.

Tayrol needs to rest.
Hope not ready
Chase on standby if Blackwood fails

londoner 2016-06-28 15:27:34

In reply to embsallie Taylor has passed his sell by date, Roach is not same bowler. Blackwood has been giving so much chance.

Last year, probably 15 months ago.

Why include Polly and not DJ Bravo as well?

Because I rate Pollard as a cricketer and not so much Dwayne Bravo these days.
Pollard can bat, better than most in the region, Bravo can't. And I'm being 100% honest when I say Dwayne wouldn't and shouldn't be able to make our ODI team these days.

Since we selecting make beleieve teams, add Sarwan too, he still young enough.

Uncle Sars threw away his career.

Throw in Fidel Edwards to nuh,ooh yeah..injury...

Even if he wasn't injured, Fidel took a kolpak deal just like Ravi therefore ineligible.

Anywho Pollard won't be selected and I'm fine with that. He hasn't earned it and he admitted that he has given up on it.
But I was just stating the squad I'd like to see.

You are not going to beat India with spinners.

Maybe it's our best chance on these dead ass wickets. We surely can't beat them with those pacers you named on these tracks

thanks for putting up your team mate..

good job...

and before you tell me to post my own team..I actually agree with the boys...unless you know something I dont , I cant see Roach in there not with Carlos who needs nurturing in this area once available and keen to get some test cricket under his belt. big grin

No way Roach make this team unless he is bowling at previous pace.

I was a student of COL Deane, a gentleman who was not only a cricket fan, but worked with many poor youngsters from the area.
He was not perfect, but would tell you the truth, I will be home in October, I hope to share my experience with this legend of Barbados cricket.
He was the scorer for many years, and should be made a legend.
BTW, not only him, but Umpires and writers, who has served Barbados and The BCA for donkey years.

Dude, after the last series, Kemar must have been given things to work on, they are not going to drop him or Taylor.
Don't be surprise if the only change is Chandrika

In reply to openning

we will see...not going to bet but I would be surprised unless as Seaegg says..Roach has rediscovered himself..

his drop off from the promise he offered back then in itself calls for discussion...compared to Hall, Marshall even with his hunger and look...

injury is an unforgiving thief...but lets see...Collymore did relatively well post injury..Roach not so much...not since.

Why would any selector, select Two or more under-develope all rounders in a test squad?
Test cricket is much different from the other formats, it is not a format to learn to bowl reverse swing.
BTW, are these chaps batting or bowling allrounders?

BeatDball 2016-06-29 08:06:47

Someone mentioned RChandrika...hope they haven't given up on him?! I say, Blackwood, VSingh or RChandrika should play.

Both underdeveloped all-rounders outperformed Roach. We cannot keep on carry dead wood and expect different results. Just like removing Taylor and giving Gabriel a go in the 50overs. Cannot be scared to make changes. Named brand cricketers held Bim back for years until someone with a little foresight allowed the youths to get some light.

I like your team , I add Samuels and my favorite player de Angel to the X1 the negatives are the Angel got 3 wicket in a game , and the chances of him doing that again in very slim to nuh. Samuels may not pass 50 until 2020 , but i roll the dice .

Hope will be the new deal in this series.

BeatDball 2016-06-29 19:12:22

In reply to Runs I was impressed with the little that I saw of him. I think it was vs the Aussies...could have been the kiwis! He didn't look kabakaba!

big grin lol
Wicked-B shouldn't give up on RC nor JB.

Add Hope, Bishoo (or Motie), Gabriel and Samuels to that 11 to make a 15-man squad
