Is Darren Sammy the CPL's worst captain?
In reply to imusic
LOL wicked!
Fighting with DU Plessis for the honor.
In reply to imusic
Is he still playing cricket?
can you show me to the games he played a role in?
In reply to imusic
Transparency international. ....no it's duplessis
In reply to imusic
Sammy look like he already retired.
In reply to imusic
How would you rate his clapping--
He was WI best clapper..
In reply to imusic
$ammy has moved on from being best captain, he's now best fielder in the West Indies.
Talk about moving on up!
In reply to imusic
No
In reply to Walco
With a record of 5 wins and 17 losses in 22 matches, he's by some distance the worst captain in the history of the CPL
In reply to imusic
Same knife that stick goat stick sheep.
In reply to nick2020
Why you referring to sammy as an animal?
In reply to imusic
Pity we never got a thread from you stating after two WCs and a #1 ranking that Sammy is the greatest T20 Captain ever (not just in West Indies).
Trini knife different.
In reply to imusic
So we measure good captaincy solely by wins and losses now? Wouldn't that make Sammy the best T20I captain in history? Or perhaps the best T20 WC captain of all time?
And what about team quality? If yuh really rate captaincy by wins and losses, what do you think about BCL as a captain?
In reply to nick2020
I should have read further down the thread before my last posting
In reply to Walco
Isn't that what you guys claim? It only convenient when it wuk in wunnuh favor?
A team that has had among their ranks:
Kevin Pietersen
Shakib Al Hasan
Michael Hussey
David Miller
Shane Watson
Morne Morkel
Sohail Tanvir
Herschel Gibbs
Misbah Ul Huq
Cannot be lacking in quality
If sammy was such a good leader....how could he fail to inspire the zouks to even make the next round of CPL?
How have windward islands not won a single regional competition under his leadership? Especially when WI players away?
And let me understand this......I ask a question.....if sammy is worst captain in CPL...and you and nick respond with Trini references?
In reply to imusic
I get it.
Admin call out a Trini so you fired back at him with a Knick.
same knife stick.......

Judging a captain's performance in cricket is more than Win/Loss statistics. I judge cricket captains by how they lead the fielding team foremost, their energy and fielding performance, individual performance third, PR performance (to public and speeches to the team) then fifth their batting lineup (which the coach may have more say than the captain).
Now judge all the captains on those 5 criteria. I'll need a chart to keep score... but
On what I could recall now, Du Pleiss is not using his players well. Badree is the best in the world in a specific role and he is not being used that way. Patriots have got their line up & playing 11 wrong in many games. Bowlers not being used effectively (eg. vs Tallawahs) and Fafs individual performance is terrible.
Bravo, with team selection, bowler utilisation and field placement has been questionable (although I think with TKR and many other teams that team selection and bowler utilisation is politically motivated but with TKR I'm dumfounded a lot of times) but his individual performance in the field, batting and bowling has been good.
Guptill seemed to be a silent captain, because everyone seems to know their role and is performing, same with Gayle. Pollard has been OK.
Sammy well his fielding has been poor, he is not bowling and his batting has been poor. When they play in the Darren Sammy stadium we can make a better assessment of his man management in the field. His bowling options are limited, but shouldn't he rate himself a better bowler than Kyle Mayers?
In reply to imusic
Don't pretend to be stupid else people will believe you are.
In reply to nick2020
Coming from the stupid poster chile
In reply to imusic
You asked a question and then gave a supporting statement to your question
That you cannot back out of. You made a statement the wholly supports the stupid stance that a captain owns the record of his team
Apparent you claim it too. Contradict much?
In reply to imusic
I smart enough to not make a bait topic with no content only to then own it by saying
You played your hand quite poorly.
In reply to Walco
imusic throw bait in de sea and jump in after it
In reply to nick2020
You looking for talk dude
5 and 17 and never going past the first round speaks for itself. I doh have to own anything
Darren sammy is the one owns that record and somehow...you and walco have an issue with it.
Not my problem....wunna own
In reply to imusic
No. The point I was making with that statement is that if you say Sammy is the worst captain in CPL history based solely on wins and losses, it follows that he is the greatest international T20 captain of all time by the same measure. You cannot seriously dispute this point based on world cup wins and losses. Can you?
Anyway, I don't subscribe to the simplistic formula of wins and losses in judging the competence of a captain. By that measure, the West Indies have not had a good captain in eons. Except of course for Sammy in T20 cricket
In reply to Walco
It makes you wonder sometimes...
By analog music's metric, Sammy is the greatest caption in T20 international and the worst caption in a lesser compartment of T20.
I guess by that measure, a world class team with a poor captain will have a dismal win/loss record even if they play a shitty team with a great captain.
But I would not call analog music a simpleton. I think he is better than that.
Analog music, you would need to develop a more reliable and realistic methodology for the appraisal of captains.
In reply to Courtesy
imusic's insinuation is that $ammy's success in T20I is attributed (or should be) to the 'stars' surrounding him and at his disposal.
In reply to Drapsey
musicman does not need your help shifting the goal posts enuh. We talkin wins and losses as the single determining factor of good captaincy. It nuh matta how or why yuh win dem. So stick to di topic or kibba yuh mout
In reply to Walco
I see you gotta alotta time to waste.
In reply to Courtesy
imusic set a trap but de cheese did look too sweet
In reply to nick2020
Is this his idea of a trap?
If this is so, then it is pregnant with stupidity.
'it' = analog music.
In reply to Drapsey
imusic's insinuation is that $ammy's success in T20I is attributed (or should be) to the 'stars' surrounding him and at his disposal.
According to imusic's post here he had plenty of quality in the CPL. So that cannot be his angle.
In reply to Courtesy
You have to disguise the bait better than that. I do not know why he made an empty post.
If he concocted this entire thing because of my Knicks/Carmelo response to him I must say I am flattered at the effort.
But clearly he thinks I am stupid.
well the stupid one won today
In reply to Courtesy
Yes, today is a slow day
In reply to nick2020
I learnt very early in stats, that logic is a tool that is extremely dangerous in the hands of idiots and people with malicious intent.
In reply to Walco
Well, go easy on the toothless bobolee then.
In reply to Courtesy
So which one is 8track music? Idiot or one with malicious intent. ..or indeed all of the above? Lol
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Wha yu tink?
I just looked at the CPL standings and if I use cassette music logic Faf got to be the worse CPL captain this year!
In reply to Courtesy
I tink imusic done wid dis. Left the building.
Probably going to de bait shop in de morning to stock up.

Why yuh keeping de OP thread alive when he rather it die out like flowers?
In reply to nick2020... have no idea.
In reply to imusic
Non of them international stars had performed consistently. Think they are being out played and way below the potentials
Well, based on the supporting evidence from the OP the answer looks like yes ...
He should have just added 'minimum of 10 matches' to qualify... to rule out people like Faf
In reply to nick2020
It is always easy to tell when there are no meaningful games to follow. The same tired and worn out posts pop up.Well, that is rock men for you.
Sammyyyyyyyy
Wicket!
Brilliant captaincy!
So for the past how many matches it was horrible captaincy.
Are you referring to the two World Cup wins?
In reply to century
Bump
Weh analogmusic?
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Well, "Darren Sammy the CPL's worst captain", just way out captained Emrit.
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
He is drowning his sorrows in a few bottles of rum since the second coming of Lara shat up Viv's place at North Sound.

In reply to Andy99
I know your memory is very good.
A long time ago when Sammy was sacked as cappo of the other formats I said on this board that was for the best because he would continue to captain the best team.
Captain of 2 World Cup teams.
Johnson Charles is the man of the match
St Lucia Zouks win their third game at home and race to third position in the points table. At the break, Johnson Charles would've wanted to dig a hole for himself but with encouragement from his captain, he batted well and led St Lucia Zouks to a victory. He was ably supported by Shane Watson.
In reply to voiceofreason
Lara would have bitch-slapped Charles after that 2nd dropped catch.
In reply to nick2020
Anybody can be a captain but it takes a really special individual to be a 'poor' captain. Talking actual captaincy here and not the value of the individual in the team. With all the coaches and and tech available a captain's job is easy. You have to be really bad to be bad at actual captaincy. That is why first pick your team then pick your captain.
Okay maybe you said that and it probably is true for the 1st WC, he was the Cappo but surely for the 2nd one he was the Clappo.
Sammy can be called the Jose Manuel Pinto of cricket but then again that wouldn't be truthful to Pinto as his selection was never forced into the team starting XI and never kept a better player out of the XI to make the team weaker unlike the other individual.
So Mr. Pinto I apologize for my initial remarks.
In reply to Andy99
So there were no coaches and tech in BCL' s time? Or was he just too 'special '.
In reply to Priapus
Not as much as there is today but U saying he was a bad captain?
Lara did a very good job in ODIs with WI, we were very competitive. Tests results were horrible though.
In reply to Andy99
Well he admitted as much with his "moderate success and devastating failures" comment. So who am I to question his self-assessment?
In reply to Andy99
Scammy a hard man fi dead...mofo gots mo lives dan Jackal Warner
In reply to che
Sounds like you were hoping he would have disappeared after getting sacked from the cappoship. If nothing else, he is no Sarwan.
In reply to Priapus
WICB,ICC,shitmusic, peeps taut mofo gwine dodo bird..clappa wont croak
In reply to Priapus
Lara would have bitch-slapped Charles after that 2nd dropped catch
Viv once sent a sub-fielder off for a dropped catch but not Sammy.
In reply to che
He has staying power unlike some others who had no other options outside of the WI team setup.
In reply to che
Sammy and the Zouks on 3-0 run including the beatdown of the Tridents and the Warriors. Lixx!
I maintain that Sammy is the best Captain since Richards. Some might say Richardson.
In reply to voiceofreason
Yup. I believe it was a Tit named Richard Gabriel. But if I'm not mistaken it was for allowing a ball to go through his legs while fielding on the boundary.
In reply to Priapus
Old timers seh Smokin Joe nick dat from Herman Griffith!!!
Bump!!!
Beautiful win Captain Sammy!
How good is Kaptain Pullhard now?
Good win cappo

In reply to Narper
imusic going treat this thread like a Narine one.
I wonder if Zouks can win a title this year...
In reply to imusic
Wow..those blows inflicted by Walco and Nick musta left a mark.
Wtf.....everytime you tried yr signature Sammy dis or dat...they pounded you some more....
Btw...I knew it was coming...even I wanted to offer you help.
Lol...
I can hexplain this.
That Sammy has a fine record in global T20s with the West Indies is because he is only comfortable leading 'his own people'.
His relative failure leading multicultural teams (and you don't get more multicultural than Kevin Pietersen) in the CPL can only point to his discomfort in working with people of other cultures.
Clearly Sammy is racist.
In reply to Verstehen
I seriously hope you are being sarcastic but I cannot ignore the ignorance of your post. In case you missed it West Indies is a multi- national, multi-ethnic, multi-religious, multi-racial and multi-cultural team. WTF are you talking about?
In reply to voiceofreason
Dude, after all this f*king while?
