An interesting cricket article for all

You learn something everyday.
For example this:
In Hoad's opinion Charlie Griffith was the greatest bowler 'who ever walked on grass'. 'I am judging him during his best years 1960 to 1962-63 before he injured his shoulder throwing in Dominica and he was never the same Charlie Griffith again."
"They said that he was a chucker but Charlie was only no-balled twice and both the umpires admitted they didnt think he chucked, but they called him because they were instructed to call him," said Hoad. "Arthur Fagg no-balled him against Oxford in 1963 and then admitted that he was instructed to do so by Ted Dexter (then England captain). Cortez Jordan no-balled him for throwing in Indias match against Barbados in 1962 in the over before he knocked down Gaekwad and hit (Nari) Contractor on his head and sent him to Canada for a brain operation. Apparently Jordan was instructed by Dennis Atkinson to no-ball him. I spoke to Atkinson about this because I was there and he said it doesnt matter if he chucked or not 'we got to get him out of cricket or he is going to kill somebody'. This was his attitude yet when West Indies had four fast bowlers they never pitched up a ball to let a man drive. It worked in cycles."

...before he injured his shoulder throwing in Dominica...
And the man says Charlie was not a chucker!

Struggle to follow, poorly written article. Some good points in between
Not very accurate either; example: "Then all of a sudden in one year we lost Fredericks, Greenidge, Richards, Richardson, Dujon, Logie, Gomes, Lloyd and Kanhai retired."
Richardson never played with Fredericks or Kanhai; and played on for at least 5 years after Richards

Charlie was my bowling idol growing up and he was no chucker.
Didn't you read where Ted Dexter and Denis Atkinson both asked umpires to call Charlie?
I recall when the touring Aussie in '65 was going after Charlie and Richie Benaud wrote an article with a pic of Charlie's action, and the image had his bowling arm almost in an S-shape to prove he was chucking. It was of course a tampered image. As a young man, he was one of my cricketing idols and those attacks hurt.
They were always out to get Charlie. In fact, Tony White was dropped from the West Indies during that series, when it was rumored he was feeding information to the Aussie's camp about the West Indies team and Charlie, in particular.

That was the first thing that came to mind.
I saw on tape where Holding and Garner bowled the ball in from the outfield (long leg and third man)...

Jimmy Adams who was captain of West Indies thought a little mental help especially for the new guys would be useful
... needed more today.

Charlie was the most 'feared bowler' when I was a youngster.
