Carlos Brathwaite calls wrong again. India will bowl first. "We want to take the positives from yesterday." says MS Dhoni. India with just one change. Stuart Binny has been "dropped", Amit Mishra comes in. West Indies are unchanged. That means Gayle continues to sit out because of what we suspect is that familiar back niggle.

One change from yesterday's playing XI: Stuart Binny, who fortunately survived the 6-sixes scare yesterday, has been dropped. West Indies don't tinker with their combo, so no Gayle..

you nah see this?
In case you missed it earlier, here's Shivnarine Chanderpaul on what he's been doing these days following an unfortunate episode over his sacking by WICB, giving back to the game through coaching programmes in America and much else. He thinks he should still be out there, blunting Test bowlers from around the world.

"The crowd in Lauderhill is much much smaller today," Peter informs me from the venue. "Bleachers on the north side were full 20 minutes before the start of yesterday's game but they're two-thirds empty right now. Both grandstands also with loads of empty seats at the moment. Ground is about half-full a few minutes away from the first ball."

VVS and a lady is in the studio:
VVS Laxman said in 1997 him and Dravid sat at the same table with Chanderpaul at a resort for 40 mins.
He said after Shiv left, he and Dravid laughed because they found the accent so difficult to understand. They said for that 40 mins all 3 were mainly shaking their heads and nodding
VVS said the Guyanese accent was difficult to understand but after a while Shiv's accent "improved"

Not looking good. The rain is coming, folks. The ground staff are ready on all sides to rush the covers in at the first droplet of rain. DLS par-score for India if they don't lose a wicket after five overs is 28. Indians are reluctantly walking off the field. This is just as a precaution, it looks like. They're not exactly rushing off the ground, but it has gotten really dark. The good thing tough is there is strong breeze blowing across.

1.30pm Peter is back with an update from Lauderhill. "Rain stopped about 30 minutes ago, but they're being very cautious taking off the covers for run-ups.
There are no super soppers here. Only covers for the pitch and run-ups. Umpires are walking around the run-ups now twirling umbrellas and sticking them in and out of the ground to see how dry it is or isn't.

1.50pm The latest concern now is one of the painted/nailed-in advertising logos on the grass at the pavilion end behind bowlers run-ups. It looks too slick to be able to run across without risking injury so there is some concern being shown by officials looking over it now. The pitch itself is ready for play to resume, it's these problem areas in the outfield that are still holding things up.

2.00pm It's all over. The match has been called off. "They're setting up the post-match presentation ads," says our man Peter. "Captains shaking hands."
What's this, another QPO (like) fiaco?

"We would have comfortably got in the required numbers of overs and more had the start not been delayed. End result, if this is rained-off, would point to the weather. I'd say the satellite issues would have played a major part too. If we do have a washout, the fans who paid big money, upwards of USD 200 for certain sections of the stadium, would have every reason to be upset."
This is just too funny....

You could have almost seen this coming when they started this game 40 minutes late, when the conditions were totally perfect to play in, all because of satellite issues.

MS: "I think it was quite difficult. But the way the bowlers bowled was brilliant. They executed the plans very well, good batting effort would have seen us go through. We played one batter short, but realizing the wicket we thought we need an extra bowler. Leg-spinner is a fair option. Mishra bowled exceedingly well and was well supported by Ashwin. This is one place we can come back and play some cricket. A tournament like this will give us time to spend in the USA. It will be a bit cramped for the international cricket but I don't think the modern cricketers will mind that. The crowd will come in numbers and I think it suits the broadcasters as well."

Carlos: "Indian bowlers executed their plans really well. We tried our best, didn't get the score we wanted but we always had full confidence in defending our total. Lewis and Charles are the positives for us. For me as a young leader to know and lead the players is an exciting experience. We want to remain champions and entertain the West Indian crowd. Most definitely we would love to come back here again. Fantastic wicket and lovely facilities, it will only get better. We want to play a big part in bringing cricket here. We really enjoyed our time in Florida."

As kids, if the opposition got to bat but we didn't, because of rain, we used to be vex like hell!
