...Gayle and Sammy.

I understand West Indies won a T20 series without...
One was fired by his employer and the other fired his West Indian employer.
How can he play against the real Indian hands that feed him and potentially negatively affect their rankings?

He will be alright. RCB has enough clout (read $$$) to ensure that he shows up come March next year.

Who are you talking about above...is it Sammy?

Lol...you full of jokes. To be pellucidly clear I'm talking about none other than the Universe "Don't Blush Baby" Boss.
In reply to Priapus
Thanks.
I am wondering whether he left the Caribbean with the injury which prevented him from playing or did he sustain it in Florida?
The WICB should shed some light on this.

Something nah sound right here.
Was there a fitness test prior to leaving for Florida? I hope the WICB or selectors can clarify this thing.
I recall the injury prior to the first IPL season and the machinations displayed by the WICB.
I wonder if Sir Hilary knew this and whether this could have influenced the good Sir's subsequent actions?

That was alluded to in an earlier post yesterday/today.
If Gayle weren't on the roster, all them Hindians wouldn't have packed the stadium yesterday. And at them prices, West Indians couldn't take up the slack.
See what happened today when it was known that he was a potential non-starter?

Maybe just maybe the weather had something to do with it? I mean they purchased the tickets already no?

Are you suggesting that the practice of subjecting players to fitness tests prior to selection/tours that was instituted during the the HHGS administration is another change ushered in by Dave?
In reply to Walco
Mate, exactly what I am suggesting.
Scenario: It's a two match tour...the player has not played a match...there are no reports that he was injured in the nets. How on earth then could he not play and don't tell me it's because of injury concerns?
It never ceases to amaze me the efficiency of the WICB.
The WICB are into the business of dishing out joyrides now.
Weren't the players already in Florida for some kind of retreat?
In reply to Kay
The question which should be asked is this: were the players in the one day squad subjected to a fitness test prior to traveling to Florida?
Any other matter is secondary or not germane to the discussion.

I distinctly remember Jerome Taylor and Kemar Roach going on tours with pre-existing injuries before HHGS put an end to that with fitness tests.
In reply to Walco
Yep the HH&G placed quite a lot of emphasis on fitness tests as evidence by the following item:
7....
8. Mr. Butts asked for his assurance that he would do the fitness testing. He continued he was not sure if the WICB would use his last fitness test as a base or if he would have to do a new base test.
9....
Mr. Butts was at the time following a directive issued by the board for mandatory fitness testing for everyone selected to play for West Indies.

Don't forget to attribute Coach Gibson who administered the requisite laps around the track training, even though his most important charge, Chris Gayle, protested with the paraphrase, "Him mussa think wi a track-star".
Chris injured from CPL. Needed more time to rest for the big money T20 leagues ... duh!
