I like Preedy 'On the Low' just don't think anything special of it..he have another tune 'Outta this world' which I think is his best for the season thus far

One tune I should have mentioned earlier was Orlando Octave 'Single'...yh see dat tune bredda! that is reel mash up tune..'Plenty gyal have man but acting like dey singe' ...but tunes like that, one will have to understand the Trini vibes to fully appreciate it..

I am not sold on that Flipo tune and I am disappointed because I am one of his supporters. The problem with that tune is it sound like you have two background sounds playing at the same time. Try opening two youtube videos at the same time and you get something similar to that Flipo tune. Also that tune don't have enough lyrics, no belly in between the chorus, and by repeating the chorus just to fill the track time is obvious

Nah I disagree especially if you talking about the present, Bunji has regressed in recent years. The emergence of Voice and now artist like Kes and Patrice are now top tier artists see him being replaced.

Yuh could not ask for anything more lyrical and intense from Benjai! Big blasted tune dey! will be a hit beyond Carnival !

Lat year was good, but this year even better, the lyrical quality has improved..and there are many young artists emerging who are very talented. For example Voice, Preedy, Sekon Sta to name a few

That is a 2016 tune for me, but you know the seasonal supporters do not know better, so to them hearing it for the first time makes it a 2017 tune

Off year for Trini Soca music. This late in the season and I cannot hear a song with a decent melody that sticks. Not a good year for the soca music as a lot going dancehall and club style trying to crossover. Listened to all the tracks that you suggested and they not top shelf bro. Machel and Kes and all gone south.


2015 was very good with Ola the Kan Kan riddim and the big hits 'Like a boss', was 'Lucy' that year? Last year was decent as Voice came hard and seemed like the Man with Ola to take over the reins from Kes and Machel but they struggling this year. Ola like he stuck in this afro soca groove.


Hope the Kaiso good this year. PNM in so less to sing about? Like Cro Cro but what he go sing bout? Lol. Helon Francis had a big year last year and should have won the Monarch but Devon got a bligh. Looking out for him as he is a singer/songwriter so that is a good.

old man you have your opinion like everyone else, most of the youths are happy with the versatility and improvement in the quality and lyrical content in Soca music. YOU LOVE KAISO that is your business ole man! Most old men who love Calypso are very critical of any Soca, nothing new here! you not fooling anyone.

Yu do not even know the year of the tunes listed but you want to be taken as an expert? Soca is at his highest peak from an International interest TODAY! not ten years ago, not twenty years ago. Like I said TODAY! and that is because of the quality of the music has improved to an International sound. You do not like it then you can die with the old negative attitude, the youths do not care what people like allyuh have to say. This is what they want

Moving on, yuh see that Machel "Fast Wine" tune, baddest tune right now and will go beyond a Carnival environment anywhere

While I do like the soca for 2017... Not much if it has appealed to me. I like some of the tunes, but some of the guys a struggling,

KES has 2 tunes on my playlist and one of them is there by default since I like the riddim


Machel has 3, Bunji has 2 and Kerwin has 2.


This compared to my mixtape sized playlist from last year and the year before at this point.
