SOS for Phil Simmons

Kurt 2016-09-26 20:09:23

New coach is taking 20/20 Gold and spinning it into the standard WICB porridge.

Kay 2016-09-26 20:21:32

De 20/20 legacy was already established when Phil took over. Team losing now jus because key players like Gayle and Russell are missing and Narine is called upon to actually bowl.

With those three absent the quality of the gold is reduced by 3 carats.....smile

In reply to Kay

Was narine chucking when the WI won the WC a couple months back?

Did Gayle produce anything outside of the first match?

Yes, Russel is a big miss, although the WI have quite a few similar big hitting all-rounders in the squad.

Narine wasn't even at the world cup

Someone highlighted that a coach at the senior level is 'redundant'. I agree, what is needed, for want of a better term, is a technical team, they will be responsible for all things not expected of the cricketers, involving administration. That is they are to offer assistance when in the nets working out flaws that have crept in. And mostly working out the best eleven to play on the surface presented as well as working out ways to get oppositions out. In other words work out tactics and plan games. You get the gist.

Exactly! So, if anything the WI should have been strengthened by his return.

The larger point is that the WI have performed terribly over their first 2 20/20 matches since the sacking of Phil, after a very consistent run of 20/20s with him as coach. Why would that be? Could it be that they are missing Sammy's leadership? The counterpoint to that would be that they won in Lauderhill, without Sammy. So what does that leave: That they're either missing their former coach or that Russel is irreplaceable, or some combo of the two.

In reply to Kurt... DRERUS ... Will give you good spells as well as wack that ball when it is required.

Would be interesting to see our win loss ratio with DRERUS as against without.

Kurt 2016-09-27 21:26:57

... and the new coach pilots the WI to a 3rd consecutive 20/20 loss.

Have the WI EVER lost 3 consecutive 20/20s prior to this tour?

You have made a very good observation
in my opinion , this is the main reason for the up & down performances
of our Players & Team .

Unfortunately , those in the governance of Cricket in the Region ,
due to their colossal Ignorance ;
High & Mighty attitude ; and the belief that they & only they are endowed with knowledge regarding Cricket .

The stark truth , is that for many
years now those in the governance of Cricket in the Region have demonstrated that they are totally
unfit to be in the governance of Cricket in the Region ; from every conceivable perspective .

Yet despite their colossal Ignorance
they are hell bent to stay in Office , clinging to their 89 years old
Structure ; which allows them to do
as they please without being accountable .

The sad thing is that the International Cricket Cabal , is totally unconcerned by their Stewardship of Cricket in the Region .

In most sports coach gets fired for not been able to bring the best out of the players.. Phil got fired for the complete opposite.. not getting the best outta Dave and co
shock

It is now exceedingly conspicuous that
those in the governance of Cricket in
the Region have become so myopic that
they have failed to see & understand
that most of the Problems regarding
Cricket in the Region is due to their
continuous refusal to accept the fact that :

THEY ARE THE MAIN PROBLEM ,

REGARDING CRICKET IN THE REGION .

In addition their continuously blunt
refusal to change their 1929 Structure is also a large part of the
problem .So also is their total lack
of ACCOUNTABILITY .
