The selectors on here said that WI needed a batsman to bat through the innings. What they also failed to mention is that he would be soaking up plenty dot balls while doing so. As an opposing captain I would instruct my fielders to intentionally spill any catch he offers.

We replace Gayle Force with Paint in ODI. Just brilliant! Par for the course for our non-thinkers.

Alyuh bawling about Paint...is Paint de reason we lost...Paint was there for 12 overs....Paint played his 1st ODI yesterday...what about de others????
At least Paint tried to stay there for 28 balls....
So name alyuh opener then....Paint earned his spot based on the last regional OD tournament

Stats is not all bro. Technique, boundary hitting, aggression, strike turn over has to be weighted against stats.
Blackwood is an ideal odi selection. Rovan powell seem to have all of the above. A lewis or pooran can open. Why not Roston chase, plays the spin well.
Selectors are not being creative nor intelligent in selection.

that was the guys first game, you don't think he needs a game or two to adjust to this format? we should first aim to bat out the overs, then try to improve run rate.

Bat out the overs at what RPO? Because with Paint WI might as well bat the 50 overs and end up with a total of 150.i don't know about you buy I'd take 240 all out in 40 overs over 150 for 5 in 50 any day.

IMO Leon Johnson should have been the pick instead of Kraig Bratwaite. We already have Bravo and Samuels to "bat through the innings". I have no idea how Leon's stats compares with Kraig in the OD tournament, but just going off of common sense you can't cover for Gayle's absence with Paint.
I certainly not blaming Paint for the loss. I blame the selectors and the missing 3 musketeers for that.

I would give paint atleast 10 ODIs, maybe 6 if he ent crossing 20 in any.

Leon is far worse!
6 ODI average of 16, S/R of 56.
OD average of 25, too bad they don't have S/R here but I'm sure it'd be low.
His T20 average of 12 and S/R of 96 speaks about his striking ability.
In Test cricket strikes below 50.

I agree. The aim should be runs rather than trying to last 50 overs. Runs over Overs.
But Paint can play his part, certainly not with a 50 S/R. He can bat at 70-80 which would be acceptable IMO.
In short
Paint - Average 40 with a S/R under 70 - No thanks
Paint - Average 35+ with a S/R above 70 - Yes.
