Tell me again how Cummins doing well in Ingerlan

DIEHARD 2016-10-13 12:23:36

lol lol

How him looking at Test level ?

Still our best seamer maybe...but this is not Divison two country cricket.

We'll see how he goes.

analyst-kid 2016-10-13 14:08:58

he continues to avg 21.00 in test cricket...I think despite Pak's big start...he will get wickets in this match and maintain his average.

Khaga 2016-10-13 14:37:30

In reply to analyst-kid

He will get his wickets when Pak starts looking for quick runs for declaration..

granite 2016-10-13 17:18:42

In reply to Khaga
I agree, that is how everybody will get wickets.

DIEHARD 2016-10-13 18:14:45

In reply to granite

Das how he got his fiver.

I'd love to see him get his wickets when the batsman's trying to stay in.

He seems pretty harmless against test batsmen then.

No shame here IMO. The UAE is rough for most pacers, always see Pakistan pile up 500+ declared. I thought we should have went with 2 pacers and 2 spinners.

DIEHARD 2016-10-13 18:59:46

In reply to CricketLuva4

I almost said lets see how our batsmen do against their pacers, but that won't be the problem.

It'll be their spinners that'll kill us

mikesiva 2016-10-14 09:36:43

In reply to analyst-kid

Correction...Cummins used to average 21 in Test cricket. That average will change after this match, and end up more in keeping with the averages of other WI bowlers, i.e. in the 40s.
big grin

DIEHARD 2016-10-14 10:38:48

Why none of the bajan posse not all over this like they were over my post when I was asking them to look at his performances for Worcestershire in the proper context?

They kept trying to tell me he de nex Curtly Ambrose.

Maybe they waiting till after the Pakis get themselves out, and he gets 5- 120 off his 40 overs?

Then they'll show up saying I told you so..

analyst-kid 2016-10-14 10:42:00

In reply to mikesiva

20-2-74-0 will not make him get to the 40s...that will take a number of 20-2-74-0s

analyst-kid 2016-10-14 10:48:33

In reply to DIEHARD

Any Bajan telling you that Cummins is the next Ambrose is not only an idiot but would have me wondering if they are Bajans at all.

Bajans have been blessed with Hall, Griffith, Boyce,Holder,Clarke,Garner,Daniel,Hartley Alleyne,Moseley,Marshall...and later to a lesser extent Edwards and Roach ..why would they run to acclaim a bowler who hasn't excelled yet at test level?

analyst-kid 2016-10-14 11:21:05

In reply to mikesiva

look at Roach...his test avg is STILL 30.23 although discarded!

natty_forever 2016-10-14 11:25:44

In reply to analyst-kid... is because he discarded why it at 30.23

big grin

mikesiva 2016-10-21 04:31:50

In reply to analyst-kid

His average is now 35.22 and climbing...Cummins will soon be in the class of Gabriel, Roach, etc.

JahJah 2016-10-21 04:51:45

In reply to analyst-kid

Maybe he will be the new Fidel. Take a bag ah fivers and still average 40ish.

DIEHARD 2016-10-21 09:23:08

Will Cummings ever take a wicket again?

Someone please post that youtube video of his 6 wickets against India.

I must confess I didn't look when they posted it on that other thread where all the Bajans came after me.

Is anybody watching this test? I'm not, so is it that he's bowling well and without luck, is he looking threatening?

natty_forever 2016-10-21 09:42:07

In reply to DIEHARD... suh you saying we should send him back to "Ingerlan"?

londoner 2016-10-21 10:10:20

In reply to natty_forever I said it before this guy is not test class. I would have gone in with another spinner.

natty_forever 2016-10-21 10:11:34

In reply to londoner... Seems we should a pick 4 spinners.

big grin

mikesiva 2016-10-21 10:20:23

In reply to DIEHARD

Cummins didn't look threatening at all. He occasionally bowled a 140+ ball, but most of his deliveries were in the 130s, and the batsmen played him with ease.

He had one or two good deliveries, but I'm struggling to remember them....

DIEHARD 2016-10-21 11:02:32

In reply to londoner

Cummings still Prolly one of the best of the bad lot, but u right, he doesnt look test class to me, never did.

We lost Collymore, Collins, Fidel, Rampaul and so too early, these older guys should have been sharing their knowledge with the younger pacers.

The fricking WICB need to fix this pitch problem we have here fast.

Although it seems like they have improved slightly based on what was on offer during the India series.

But they need to stop offering our rubbish spinners so much assistance, flattering them.

Causing regional skippers to give our pacers the first 5 overs of an innings to bowl, then get banished to third man.

As POINT often says, you have to gain the experience to improve.

Then our batsmen would also get better at facing pace, right now...they cant bat spin or pace lol.

Isn't that how Bishoo got his (6) quick wickets in the first test. smile

Fidel and Rampaul were pushed out off WI cricket

Doan know bout Fidel but it would have been really difficult to push Rampaul out....

you are correct, them UAE wickets have nothing for pacers if yo can't utilise swing or seam bowling. Cummins action is all over the place, it would be hard for him to hit a good length consistently. He'll bowl a lot of shortish balls, when they are pitched up, will be venom-less. Cricket is physics.

DIEHARD 2016-10-21 18:46:42

In reply to jen

very well put, and you are sooo right, never thought of it like that..i like it

Cricket is physics. lol

mikesiva 2016-10-23 03:12:34

In reply to natty_forever

Instead of Cummins, we should probably be playing an experienced left-armer, like Nikita Miller....

I would bet he'd take more wickets in the UAE than Cummins has.

WICFan 2016-10-23 06:41:11

Unfortunately the Windies best four seamers are recovering from injured, retired from test cricket or gone kolpak.

If Taylor, Edwards, Rampaul or Roach were available or fit then Gabriel & Cummins would be getting ready at home for the PCL.

DIEHARD 2016-10-23 08:46:24

In reply to WICFan

You must not be following WI cricket a long time.

Taylor and Roach looked worse than what's on show here, in the last test series they played.

The selectors decided they were done with Rampaul and Edwards... This to accommodate Sammy..and now Holder.

So even if they were fit and or available. Chances are none of the four you mentioned would be selected.

When will Cummings take another test wicket?

You'd probably lose that bet.
His 1 Test he went wicketless while in ODIs vs teams 1-9 he took 22 wickets from 34 matches at 52.

mikesiva 2016-10-30 02:20:50

In reply to Andy99

And how long ago was that? Spinners improve with experience, and Miller has done that....
big grin
It makes more sense to play a left-arm seamer in these conditions than an extra pacer like Cummins. That's why England picked Zafar Ansari for Bangladesh to accompany Moeen and Rashid.

Cummins took 1-219 on this Test tour...Miller would've done better.
cool
