HEADLINE: Adams leaves Kent amidst link to vacant Windies role

LONDON, England (CMC) – Jamaican Jimmy Adams has quit as head coach of English County Kent after five years in charge, further fuelling speculation he will take over the vacant role as West Indies head coach.

Only last month, the 48-year-old former West Indies captain was linked to the post after Trinidadian Phil Simmons was suddenly sacked by the West Indies Cricket Board, on the eve of the ongoing tour of Pakistan.

Simmons spent a turbulent 18 months in charge of the Caribbean side, during which time he oversaw the capture of the Twenty20 World Cup in India last April.

Adams, who played 54 Tests for West Indies between 1992 and 2001, took over the reins at Kent ahead of the 2012 season and led them to a third-place finish in Division Two that year.

He enjoyed perhaps his best season in the south-east in the recently concluded campaign when Kent finished second, narrowly missing out promotion.

“I’ve enjoyed my time at Kent, which has been a great learning experience for me. I wanted to be involved in a club that was seeking to grow and I am fortunate to have found that here at Kent over the past five seasons,” Adams said.

I am reminded of the following adage:

" FOOLS RUSH IN WHERE

ANGELS FEAR TO TREAD " .

I believe that the above is appropriate here .

Ummmmm....you are quite late to the party. This started in 2013 with Dave. Then Muirhead and Wavell. Padams will fit in quite nicely. His homies will make sure of that.

Perhaps WI should have 3 coaches for the men's team in each format.
Gayle for the T20, when he retires
D W Bravo for the ODI, same above
Samuels for test...

Given the seemingly incompetent make up of the WICB and the cerebral and deliberate temperament of Jimmy, I find this suggestion that he will become the next head coach interesting.

If accurate, could it be that Jimmy is "home" sick? Surely, despite his intellect and man management skills, he must realize the Herculean task and the Damocles sword that beckons every Windies head coach.

Some people are like Moths attracted to a Flame . ANYONE , who thinks that
the MIMIC MEN in the WICBC will change is going to be terribly disappointed .

For Cricket in the Region to improve
it is imperative that there is a TOTAL
RESTRUCTURING OF THE GOVERNING BODY
FOR CRICKET IN THE REGION .

My perspective also is that ALL the
Regional Boards must also undergo a
total Restructuring . Our Problem is this :

WE HAVE ALL FAILED TO RECOGNIZE THE

FACT THAT INTERNATIONAL CRICKET IS A

VERY SERIOUS BUSINESS , THIS

THEREFORE REQUIRES THAT THE BUSINESS

OF CRICKET BE TAKEN VERY SERIOUSLY .

Unfortunately all those involved in
Cricket in the Region for many years
now , have refused to recognize or
acknowledge this freaking fact .
