Portias Descent
Hanover
2016-11-19 22:19:49
More and more, it seems that Portia is descending, with nauseating haste, into nothing but a necessary tool of the moment:
this is one woman who never run from a fight with anyone yet. I represent one of the strongest constituencies in Jamaica; dont play with me
nuh boy, nuh gyal cant talk to me
I will come back here for another meeting and I know who I will bring,
http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/news/Burke-defends-Portia_80949
Repeat for emphasis:
I will come back here for another meeting and I know who I will bring
Knowing what the Persians did to his county, Alexander the Great,
the commander of cutthroats and barbarians, vowed to exact revenge against his enemies.

What is wrong with talking about Portias speech? For reasons known to you, it seems that you are prepared to take a parochial view of a cosmopolitan matter. If you think it is a civil war among Labourites, then I can see why Aristotle ran away from Athens.
Portias speech, by its very nature, represents a perpetuation of the "civil war" that you mentioned. Portia, in her capacity as a leader, by making such utterances, can only add fodder to the burning flames of lawlessness in Jamaica.
The funny thing about this: Caliban will always see the monster in the mirror and curse the image as an act of the enemy, rather than accepting it as a reflection of self!

Camos, my friend, McFall says of integrity, [I]t is the state of being undivided; an integral whole. To this end, integrity presumes practical consistency between ones principles and ones actions. Simply, this brings into play the Olaf principle, an embodiment of an attitude essential to our being that there some things that we are not prepared to do, or some things we must do; hence, the requirement that some of our commitments be unconditional. So I would like you to answer these questions, if you may: Is integrity identity conferring, or only supports identity conferring in a certain way? Is integrity defeasible, or merely defeasible?

Why don't you go consult with the families in the countries with higher murder rates than Jamaica. They may love to know why you feel their lives are worth less than those of Jamaicans.
Do you think a country with around 39.3 murders in every 100,000 would be considered the capital over one with around 90.4??????
That country's rate was MORE THAN DOUBLE that of Jamaica's. Jamaica's is bad, so what that tell you about Honduras?

I saw that.
There is also Julian Robinson uttering threats to cause political harm to the government now, you should remember that Robinson is seen as a future leader of Jamaica. It is a reasonable assumption that Robinson is at an age of maturity that is consistent with the classical underpinnings of politics; however, it seems that, like Portia, he is prepared to exhibit behaviours that are antipathetic to the community of rights.

I beg to differ. I support the view of a continuity of morality (not a suspension of right), as this provides us with an understanding of the right-end of our present-day preconceptions in a manner that does not allow us to delimit our thinking to enquiries that are circular.

No I didn't.
The summary I rceived however is that Julian said that the government will pay dearly, for their misappropriation of taxpayers funds.
Which if, this is indeed what happened, is appropriate, thats why the polls are there, and pay they should, whichever side.
How can that be compared to Portia's gutter utterances, of who she going come back wid??
Forgive me for taking so long to respond, I don't pay much attention to the back room, but suspect i will be doing so more in the future

No worries, at all, man. I know that you have more important things to do, such as running the family business. hahahaha
No, man, Robinson did not say anything about misappropriation of taxpayers funds. But he did utter threats to harm the political life of the government. Now, you must understand the nature of Robinsons threats: to frustrate and cripple the legislative arm of the government.
My friend, what Portia said ought not to influence our thinking on what Robinson said, given that right cannot be predicated upon relative value.
