Portia’s Descent

Hanover 2016-11-19 22:19:49

More and more, it seems that Portia is descending, with nauseating haste, into nothing but a necessary tool of the moment:

“this is one woman who never run from a fight with anyone yet”. I represent one of the strongest constituencies in Jamaica; don’t play with me…nuh boy, nuh gyal can’t talk to me…I will come back here for another meeting and I know who I will bring,”

http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/news/Burke-defends-Portia_80949

Repeat for emphasis: “I will come back here for another meeting and I know who I will bring

Knowing what the Persians did to his county, Alexander the Great, the commander of cutthroats and barbarians, vowed to exact revenge against his enemies.

That my friend is why Peter Phillips should be given an award for keeping the economy on track with the IMF agreement.

He did it despite having this foul mouth as his boss. How do men like Ronald Thwaites feel when they see her like this which is ever so often?

When the scammers and murderers of the country see a top leader making such violent threats against those that have differing views they maybe further embolden.

You are talking about Portia's speech when downtown Kingston and St James are live civil wars among Laborites.

What is wrong with talking about Portia’s speech? For reasons known to you, it seems that you are prepared to take a parochial view of a cosmopolitan matter. If you think it is a civil war among Labourites, then I can see why Aristotle ran away from Athens.

Portia’s speech, by its very nature, represents a perpetuation of the "civil war" that you mentioned. Portia, in her capacity as a leader, by making such utterances, can only add fodder to the burning flames of lawlessness in Jamaica.

The funny thing about this: Caliban will always see the monster in the mirror and curse the image as an act of the enemy, rather than accepting it as a reflection of self!

If Portia really care about the PNP she should go quietly into the sunset ,before she causes any further harm to the party.

all party leaders talk badness, you do know about the deputy leader from St Thomas and the contract killings, there is a clip somewhere of Peter inviting a member of parliament outside for a fight, Seaga is reported to have hit people, my friend told me Michael told him no end of bloodcloth for getting to a meeting late?

Hanover 2016-11-22 18:21:30

In reply to camos

Camos, my friend, McFall says of integrity, “[I]t is the state of being undivided; an integral whole”. To this end, integrity presumes practical consistency between one’s principles and one’s actions. Simply, this brings into play the Olaf principle, an embodiment of an attitude essential to our being that there some things that we are not prepared to do, or some things we must do; hence, the requirement that some of our commitments be unconditional. So I would like you to answer these questions, if you may: Is integrity identity conferring, or only supports identity conferring in a certain way? Is integrity defeasible, or merely defeasible?

Why don't you go consult with the families in the countries with higher murder rates than Jamaica. They may love to know why you feel their lives are worth less than those of Jamaicans.

Do you think a country with around 39.3 murders in every 100,000 would be considered the capital over one with around 90.4??????

That country's rate was MORE THAN DOUBLE that of Jamaica's. Jamaica's is bad, so what that tell you about Honduras?

nitro 2016-11-23 05:41:40

In reply to JahJah

Ok so Honduras is worst. That does not give me, a Jamaican any comfort. You can try all you want to play down Portia's threat to harm Jamaicans who do not agree with her policies but the nation will send her a strong message, again.

The cameraman has been receiving threatening […] phone calls.

http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/news/CVM-videographer-threatened-after-recording-Portia-s-remarks_81439

The cameraman should bless his lucky stars that he got only a threat; Portia and her champions could have visited him.

Hanover 2016-11-26 02:14:54

I will come back here for another meeting and I know who I will bring
Let me make it clear that I did not intend to convey a threat or intimidation of anyone.
I regret any discomfort my comments have caused.

"the nation will send her a strong message"

Comrades have filed out of the People's National Party (PNP) headquarters in droves, painfully aware that the curtains have been brought down on their party in today's local government election.

http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/news/-LocalGovt16--Disappointment-for-PNP

Is this the message?

nitro 2016-11-28 22:19:38

I did not expect such a hiding based on the close general election.

I understand she is hiding from her supporters.

She is a disgrace.

I understand she is hiding from her supporters.

You are a cruel man.smile

On another note: It seems that Comrades upset the status quo in St Ann. Given that Portia promised to bring the wrath of the PNP upon them, what do you think is going to happen? Will these Comrades feel the full wrath of Portia and her champions?

I saw that.

There is also Julian Robinson uttering threats to cause political harm to the government – now, you should remember that Robinson is seen as a future leader of Jamaica. It is a reasonable assumption that Robinson is at an age of maturity that is consistent with the classical underpinnings of politics; however, it seems that, like Portia, he is prepared to exhibit behaviours that are antipathetic to the community of rights.

I beg to differ. I support the view of a continuity of morality (not a suspension of right), as this provides us with an understanding of the right-end of our present-day preconceptions in a manner that does not allow us to delimit our thinking to enquiries that are circular.

No I didn't.

The summary I rceived however is that Julian said that the government will pay dearly, for their misappropriation of taxpayers funds.

Which if, this is indeed what happened, is appropriate, thats why the polls are there, and pay they should, whichever side.

How can that be compared to Portia's gutter utterances, of who she going come back wid??

Forgive me for taking so long to respond, I don't pay much attention to the back room, but suspect i will be doing so more in the future lol

Hanover 2016-12-18 00:21:10

In reply to DIEHARD

No worries, at all, man. I know that you have more important things to do, such as running the family business. hahahaha

No, man, Robinson did not say anything about misappropriation of taxpayers’ funds. But he did utter threats to harm the political life of the government. Now, you must understand the nature of Robinson’s threats: to frustrate and cripple the legislative arm of the government.

My friend, what Portia said ought not to influence our thinking on what Robinson said, given that right cannot be predicated upon relative value.
