Who should replace Cozier and Red as commentator

openning 2016-12-15 16:54:30

After listening to the 1st test between Australia and Pakistan this morning, Andrew Mason should stay far away from commentary.
Wasim Akram was asked about captaincy and field setting last night, his answer was, " a coach is able to see more than the captain, in between overs a message as a suggestion should be sent, to the captain, it is up to him to make the necessary changes.

Andrew Mason continue to have that West Indian degrading attitude when on commentary, that kind of attitude was good in the sixties, by being the leading commentator, one would expect him to bring us to the game, and not talk about any player or captain.
Akram did not criticize the captain, what he did was make the listener understand, during a game communication between coach and captain is important.
This elementary mistakes that Andrew speaks about is demeaning to every one that is listening to him, thats not what listeners want to hear.
Andrew, bring us to the game, tell us the field, scores, the bowlers, let the guy next to you give us stats.
I don't care what you eat drink and what you own.
And stay away from demeaning the captain and players, you are not in a Rumshop.

He can never get to that level,
He is a Rumshop or Backstreet commentator, demean anyone.

Mason is a bread and fish commentator - he should stick to BCA cricket - that's where he should be mouthing off.

wtf unnu got against Mason. Mason isnt the worst commentator in the WI. in fact he is among the best. yes he talks about food and unrelated stuff but that adds to the flow and sometimes gives a good break from the mundane nature of cricket commentary.

i think Mason would do well if he is elevated to replace Cozier

he speaks well with a fake accent, has limited knowledge on cricket.

Mason has already replaced Cozier, Cozier got pissed and that was part of his motivation for the lawsuit!

Bro in this day and age, an announcer should not demean anyone
Listening to Akram and the Aussie commentator, the other night, on getting info to captain, Andrew Mason came to mind.
Akram said, coaches see more during the game than the skipper, and in between overs communicate to captains
Mason speaks about elementary mistakes, instead of saying a forward short leg is needed, and someone should get this info to the captain.
But thats the West Indian way, to say whats ever one feels.
Words matter.

Mason is entertaining ,sometimes more than the game itself.
lol

imusic 2016-12-16 15:55:47

I enjoy listening to Mason. Pleasant voice and his commentary is entertaining, even if he does deviate from time to time.

Agree that he should refrain from openly criticizing any captain's tactics etc

I also enjoy Faz....although of late, he goes overboard with his negativity regarding West Indies cricket.

Not necessarily in that order...but those 2 are far ahead of the rest IMO.

Is it Sam or Barry?

Narper 2016-12-16 16:53:24

Mason and Faz are good. I can stomach dem the vast majority of the time. The problem dem try to sometimes show off how much dem know about the game personally...I believe it's their 'inferiority' complex because they didn't play the game to any recognizable level.

'83,000 square miles' Sean Devers from Mudland can develop into a top class comm too big grin

And classy, he respect the players, and understand the game.
If Sam had his way, he still be playing Over forty cricket.

Larr Pullo 2016-12-17 04:31:37

All of dem reach the right level....dung heap!!! Please don't let them get anywhere near any international cricket commentary. It's commentary not commesse...

Larr Pullo 2016-12-17 04:40:13

And Devers needs writing classes too, or at least an editor who is awake!

On a truncated opening day of the fifth and final round in the Digicel Regional
four-day tournament before Christmas between Guyana Jaguars and T&T Red Force, 27 year-old left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul, bagged 4-31 after left-arm seamer Raymon Reifer (3-32) and medium pacer Chris Barnwell (2-20) had made early inroads as the Red Force were dismissed for 162 yesterday at Providence.

Even a dead Tony Cozier is in no danger, from Devers at least, of losing his title of best cricket writer in the Caribbean.

smile smile smile

when i was at school many years ago, for Cawmere week, Sam played cricket for the old boys. wow. even at his age he could still bat. with another old boy named Burke, a white guy, they made about 100 runs in 45 minutes. plenty licks on the youngsters.

and Sam was old then. he must be dodging a coffin by now

tc1 2016-12-17 11:10:39

I did not know Sam was at Cawmere, my 2nd game at school was aginst Central with Bill Murrell and Sam, our captain got mad at me and his brother out to open the batting, boy it was bare licks at Ashton Hall that evening.
