Irresponsible!

Another failure by him again. He should be thinking to bat out as much time as possible. 4

#LIHvJMS: WICKET: L'rds 46/1 (3 ovs) & 243. Powell 40 snapped up at cover by Campbell off Leveridge. Just stood and swung the bat

Powell has been struggling all season. Getting decent starts but nothing significant to show for it. Frustration creeping in.

Cappo responsibility is too much for a player trying to make a comeback into international cricket.

Get'em next time slugger!

In reply to matchstick Precisely. Two years out of cricket and Powell is still scoring and certainly fielding more consistently than most of the Leewards put together, bar Hammie's current form.

Close friends and mentors include Marlon and Shiv. That guidance will be invaluable in getting him back to his best.

Judgement 2016-12-17 19:34:25

In reply to voiceofreason I agree waste of his wicket though.

That was a very irresponsible innings from Powell. That showed that, at the halfway stage of the FC season, he does not deserve a recall to the Test team. He needs to up his game next year, or alternately spend a bit more time in the 'A' team.

I believe Powell will do well in the Super 50 and then maybe able to transfer his form to the FC. This was an irresponsible knock because we were not in any position to win and what was necessary was a long draft of an innings for five sessions.

Be that as it may congrats to the Jamaica Scorpions on a comprehensive win where they outplayed us in every facet of the game: Bowling, fielding, batting, captaincy. We need to address our consistent failures in the 1st innings as they continue to haunt us. Our bowling is also under question right now where we have Zhari, Cornwall and to a lesser extent Tonge but nothing else. This is why I kept saying that we needed a tournament to identify new talent but as it is we just recycling the same players over and over again.

That sounds like a concession speech.

Well done!

Yes we were outplayed and lost but we have to play again so I am sure we will remember this loss well. Devon Thomas's unbeaten 100 really helped to prop up the yard but unfortunately due to unexplained sickness Bonner was not available to us. I think that would have put us on even keel. Be that as it may congrats...

No excuses we were outplayed by Devon Thomas and the Jamaica Scorpions.

How the heck does Boatswain make that team, his record is dire?

voiceofreason 2016-12-18 18:09:12

In reply to WICFan

Boatswain was a good quick prospect earlier on but the little I have seen of him this season he has been wayward and very lethargic. Leewards has not had a sub-regional tournament in 3 years so there is no new talent emerging to compete for spots. I am sure they are better options out there but we may never know because there is no avenue for them to display their talent.

The tournament must be re-established as a priority.

Judgement 2016-12-18 21:24:05

I will add to this by saying that the selectors are a bunch of fantasists who keep chopping and changing the team instead of letting them build. The Leewards had an excellent team rapport at the beginning and they were buzzing and it showed. Then came the "know it all" administrators that feel they know best and so you now have some unprepared and other "egos" who have been chopped and changed into the team with no proper preparation whatsoever. It unsettles the team and it has shown.

Powells been struggling for more than all season. He gets off to an ok start and always ends up giving his wicket away rather cheaply. But he's the best of the leewards batch so his place is justified on the team but the captaincy may be a little much for him to handle. He doesn't strike me as being able to handle pressure.
