Russell’s black-painted bat was well within the BBL playing conditions, but unlike the gold and green bats that have been used in the past, the Jamaican’s blade left coloured marks on the white Kookaburra ball.

Chris Gayle had used a gold coloured bat in last year's BBL, produced by the same bat manufacturers, Spartan.

Cricket Australia's action sounds very reasonable to me.

He is still allowed to use a black bat if the manufacturer does not go so cheap on the coloring.... smile

All he has to do is use the same bat, and use a skin.

Damn colour prejudice people....

Ponting said he could use cling film.

Instead, today's he's gone out with a white bat.

When I bought a new kookaburra a couple years ago I had it knocked in at the store and they applied a full bat face tape. I wonder why this wasnt an option for flop, I mean, Russell.

It seems Gayle's was as well last season, but Windians couldn't see what was going on...
