A LOCAL coach currently suspended by the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) is not being investigated for sexual abuse of a youth cricketer, according to TTCB CEO Suruj Ragoonath.
The player subsequently “submitted a letter to the Committee verifying that the matter is not one of sexual abuse.” Ragoonath revealed, however, that whatever was unearthed during the probe by the Committee was serious enough for them to forward to the TT CB National Disciplinary Committee for them to make a ruling on.
He clarified that the player is over the age of 18 and hence it was not reported to the Children’s Authority as previously stated in “publications and discussions.” Ragoonath sought to reassure parents and other stakeholders that the TT CB is serious about child protection.
