Mike was born in London of Barbadian parents, Delores and Joseph Springer. They returned to Barbados when Michael was aged 11, and he attended Combermere School. His mothers cooking was his inspiration and his earliest memories were of a house filled with spellbinding aromas of freshly baked sweet bread and fishcakes.
On returning to the UK at the age of 19, he went to university and studied business and finance. He then had had a successful career in the insurance field, yet felt the urge to be his own boss. So he embarked on his own venture and started a brokerage in North Wales.
