Cannot find any reports on trackalerts.com. The Gleaner and Observer have basic summaries. Maybe tomorrow we will get some details.

Nathaniel Bann of Kingston College made his return in his senior season, and will be looking to be one of the Purple’s leading the charge at Champs 2017. The former Class Three 400m champion took to the track in the 2 lap event before returning to lead his squad to victory in the 4x300m relay in 2:27.73 seconds.

This will be of interest to you. No report of Dontre though.

Dontre was at the JC meet running a 800. TA has pics of him running. I am extremely nervous about Bann running these shorter sprints. I would hope they would gradually bring him along, also Dontre. Simply cant afford another break down with both or three( Matherson ).We have a solid class 1 this time around, including Bryan,Morris etc.Let's get it right this time.If all report fit,our class 1 will crush all comers( Matherson,Bann,Williams and Hamilton ).

Class 1 comments

I cannot see KC winning the 4x400m unless Dontre, Bann, Bryan and Morris surprise me with sub 47 secs. All of them have run 47 plus in the past.

A fit Matherson should win the 100m and could win the 200m. If I were the coach I would take no chances and only run him in the 100m and the 100m relay. KC class 1 should win the 1500m, 2000m steeple, 5000m open and should get second in all three plus win/second the medley relay. KC should be second in the two relays and maybe the 400m and two of the top 4 places in the 800m.

A fit class 1 Cbar squad will win the 110 m hurdles, 4x100m relay, 200m, 400m, 4x400 and come second in the 100m, 200m, 110m hurdles.

It will be a big race for second in the 400m - Carpenter, Dontre, Bann, Bailey and Ledgester

No info on the 400m hurdles.

Like your point with Matherson running only the 100. Lets see how fit he is,or how well he has recovered. I think overall, our 400 class 1 runners are better than Cbar with the exception of course Taylor. I have to believe also that Bann,Dontre and Bryan gives us a whopping advantage barring Taylor's heroics. Is Carpenter still at CBar? Douglas Forrest this weekend. More light will shed ...hopefully.

Matherson is fully recovered. After Champs last year he went to Carifta and won the U18 100m and ran on both the 100m and 400m relays. (Yes he runs a good 400m). I am thinking he's such a special 100m talent that I would use him sparingly for now.

CBar may have Carpenter and Brandon Heath I believe. As you said at the Doug Forrest, we should see.

New policy in regards to how much events an athlete can compete in this year. How will it affect Champs? Two individual and 2 relays per athlete. Is that so?

Bann,Matherson,Williams,Rogers,Bryan,Hamilton. Core guys right now. Others play important role too, but these guys are our bread and butter. I believe everyone else moving up in class, so have to see how they work out.

Buchanan the long distance runner came 3rd in steeple last year and should win this year. Has been running very well with Rogers in the 5ks so far this season. Came 2nd last year. Good youth. I like his dedication a lot. Will look him up when I get to Ja and see what his plans are.

Kristof Darby did well in 1500 and steeple last year. Could top 3 in 1500 this year and 2nd in steeple.

Rowe and Boyd expected to do well this year in 800m class 1.

Our distance programme across all classes is doing well and Rogers and Buchanan may have a lot to do with it.

The new policy will not affect us. Its very rare for KC to enter an athlete in four events.

Remember Terrique Stennett who ran 11.24 for fourth in the class 3 100m last year. He will be back in class 3 this year.

I was looking back at Gibson last year and we did some very good sprinting all classes. I remember Stennett. All bases seem covered this year. And we can finally counter the vaunted Cbar quartet of Wilson,Stevens,Taylor and Russell.

Yes it seems we have good athletes across all classes this year. The results today at the Doug Forrest and next week at McKinley/Wint should be a good clue.

At the JC/Purewater meet last weekend the class 3 boys 800m result was as below.

1 Taylor, Tyrese Bog Walk High 2:08.30
2 Blake, J'Voughnn Jamaica College 2:09.19

Now I see in today's Gleaner that J'Voughnn Brown was awarded the most outstanding male athlete. There was no mention of Tyrese Taylor. I can only assume he was disqualified. But it seems strange especially since Taylor was highly praised earlier in the week. (Seems they got Brown's name wrong too.)

EDWIN Allen High's Ackelia Smith and J'voughnn Brown of Jamaica College walked away with the trophies for most outstanding female and male performers respectively at yesterday's JC Purewater/Danny Williams Awards function.

Complete blackout so far. Observer has a short report on Kirkvine JAAA/Puma Development meet which has some interesting high school results including Kavona Davis of Edwin Allen and Ary Rogers of KC.

Wow. Big meet and none of the papers showing anything. It wasn't even mentioned on Saturday in either Gleaner or Observer. TA usually good, but must have been occupied with awards at Pegasus.
