DIRECTOR of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and Chairman of the Barbados Pride cricket franchise Conde Riley admitted that the WICB was aware that amateurs don’t beat professionals, adding that the decline in performance of the senior teams in One Day International and Test cricket has been slow and painful.

Riley made the announcement during his feature address at the Guyana Cricket Board’s (GCB) 2016
““The board was aware that amateurs don’t beat professionals and whilst the richer members of the ICC had moved to professionalize their game decades before us, we were stuck by a combination of factors.
“Over the last 10 years, following the domination of the Clive Lloyd and Vivian Richards’ led teams, the decline in performance of our senior teams in ODIs and Test cricket has been slow and painful,” Riley pointed out.

This is very interesting ; My question
has always been , and remains this :

WHEN ENGLAND DECIDED TO LIMIT THE

NUMBER OF PLAYERS PLAYING CRICKET IN

ENGLAND ; AND THAT WAS SHORTLY

FOLLOWED BY A CHANGE IN THE

INTERNATIONAL TOUR SCHEDULE .

WHY THE HELL THE PEOPLE IN THE WICBC

COULD NOT UNDERSTAND OR REALIZE THAT

THEY SHOULD HAVE FORMED A PRO OR SEMI

PRO LEAGUE IN THE REGION TO KEEP OUR

PLAYERS FULLY COMPETITIVE .

Please spare me the usual B.S . At
that juncture our Players & Teams were the best in the World . Obviously , that being the case , getting Financial Sponsors to get a
Regional Pro or Semi Pro League would
not have been a problem .

However the People in the WICBC in there Magnificent Incompetence , sat
on their Asses , until 4 or 5 years ago they suddenly had an Epiphany that they should have a Regional League .

Sadly at a time when in the longer versions of the game Our Team & Players were & are Wallowing at or near the bottom of International Cricket in these two formats of the game .

Unfortunately their LACKEYS in this
Forum will never ever admit to this fact .They prefer to defer to the Worst International Cricket Board in
the Commonwealth , aka the WICBC .

It is this bastion of Incompetence that most of the Pseudo Sports Journalists in the Region , and the
WICBC Kool Aid Drinkers in this Forum
wildly celebrate .

We missed the boat at that juncture and now woefully late in catching up, England a land of ruling by division, finally found a method that works over the long run to beat WI. That's why I rejoice whenever WI beat the pants off England.

Life is a journey, its is never too late to do the right thing.
We have had our lows for over a decade, the highs will come.

Anyone can be a Monday morning quarterback

Well now we have a professional league, I hope that you will give it your full support.

Professional league is a right move and now it is time to clean the next level (Club level and Talent scouting) so that the cream rises to the top.

I seriously think a strong Club competition (Like the Champions league) should be able to add meaning to club cricket more than just audition for International cricket.

You are absolutely correct . The Truth is that when our Teams were the best in the World , the people in the WICBC
lacking in Foresight & Vision , failed
to understand that the limiting of
Players playing Cricket in England , &
then the changing of the International
Tour Schedule was aimed mainly at Our
Players , since in the Region WE had no Pro or Semi Pro League in the Region .

WHEN OUR PLAYERS WERE ON TOUR AND

PLAYED CRICKET NEARLY EVERYDAY , IT

WAS THOSE MATCHES THAT HONED THE

SKILLS OF OUR PLAYERS .

INTERESTINGLY , THOSE MANY MATCHES

ALSO ALLOWED OUR PLAYERS TO GET

ACCLIMATIZED TO BOTH THE WEATHER &

THE PITCHES .

This was a carefully crafted plan by those who our Teams were beating for many years .

NEVER EVER UNDERESTIMATE ENGLAND ET

AL . NOW IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT ABOUT

THIS , FIND OUT WHO HAD THE FASTEST

BOWLERS IN THE WORLD WHEN THE 1

BOUNCER PER OVER CAME INTO CRICKET .

So now in the longer versions of the game our team is wallowing at or near the bottom of International Cricket .
Sadly it is only about 4 or 5 years
ago it dawned on the WICBC that it
should have a Pro League in the Region .

The problem is that it may be to late . Worse yet the WICBC is unable to attract Financial Sponsors
due to the standing of Our Teams in the longer versions of the game .

This is precisely why the WICBC must be removed from the governance of
Cricket in the Region .

FOR DECADES THE ONLY THING THAT

CONCERNED THE PEOPLE IN THE WICBC IS

SELF PRESERVATION , NOTHING ELSE

MATTERS TO THEM .

seriously...isnt it time to grow up ?

its 2017...

Red Herrings and "go to excuses" to mask for failures in leadership and accountability really ought to be taken off of the menu.

Never ever underestimate the guile &
Cunningness of England et al . Our
Problem is that those in the governance of Cricket in this Region ;
are only interested in Self Preservation . Nothing else matters to
them .

This is precisely why they lack Vision & Foresight ; and is precisely
why WE are where WE are currently .
The decline of Cricket in the Region
was Slow but Steady .

There was time to right the ship ; by
forming a pro or semi pro league . but that did not happen because these
Self Important , Egotistical , Arrogant people who for decades have populated the Worst International
Cricket Board in the Commonwealth ,
aka the WICBC .

They have demonstrated by their Actions that they simply do not give a Damn about
Cricket in the Region .

Yes we now have a pro league, what is next is for the territories to establish semi pro leagues, Barbados should have done this long time ago, we continue to play 3s and 4s at Bank Hall, our elite League should be a semi pro league
