The Dictatorship of Dave Cameron

CricSham 2017-01-10 00:07:26

Cozier was a gentleman in every sense of the word; something that could never be said of Wycliffe Cameron, the WICB president. It is to Cameron’s shame that he may have used his position of power to hurt Tony Cozier in the last few years of his life by taking from him the one thing that he loved as much as life itself.

Cozier had written a fair and objective piece on the state of West Indies cricket in 2014 following another disastrous tour, this time to New Zealand. It was nothing new and all of it true, but Cameron, notorious for his small mindedness; his arrogance; and his vindictiveness, saw to it that Cozier’s contract with the Board was terminated.

It was a dastardly deed done to one of the legends of West Indies cricket, and that too during the last two years of his life; the memory of which, if so, should haunt Cameron until the day he dies.

The Dictatorship of WICB under Dave Cameron

When should the great players retire?

A similar question should be asked about the great Commentators.

We believe what ever we want to believe. I was in communication with Tony at the time. He was sent the contract for him to sign and to return to the W I CB He did as he had done so many times before in the past. But in the interim his article came out on the state of West Indies cricket following that Tour to New Zealand. The article was published. W I CB never returned the signed contract nor did he hear from them.
It's the manner in which it was done. You just don't do that to heroes

With ALL Due respect , What you have suggested needs also to be applied to
Members of the WICBC & the Members of
the Regional Boards .

Many here believe that the people in the WICBC & the Regional Boards are
perfect Stewards of Cricket in the Region .

I cannot & will not share that asinine perspective . The WICBC will
have US believe that what ails Cricket in the Region is mainly due to the Players .

This is perpetually done so that the
Spotlight is NEVER EVER turned on the Stewardship of the WICBC . The fact
is this :

WE HAVE TO START AT THE TOP ; AND AT

THE TOP ARE THE PEOPLE IN THE WICBC .

WHO FOR DECADES HAVE BLUNTLY REFUSED

TO CHANGE THE STRUCTURE OF THE WICBC

DESPITE COMMISSIONING SEVERAL REPORTS

REGARDING THEIR STRUCTURE .

In this respect , I am reminded of the adage :

"FISH NEVER ROTS FROM THE TAIL UP BUT

FROM THE HEAD DOWN " .

This aint something that WE do not know . Yet many persist in trying to make us believe that WE must start at
the bottom . That in my opinion is a
lot of B.S.

BECAUSE COACHES HAVE BEEN CHANGED ,

PLAYERS HAVE BEEN CHANGED , YET

PARTICULAR IN THE LONGER VERSIONS OF

THE GAME ; WE ARE STILL WALLOWING AT

OR NEAR THE BOTTOM OF INTERNATIONAL

CRICKET .

The TRUTH is slapping all of us in our faces every day , yet many of those who purport to be credible
Journals & Sports Reporters , continuously keep ignoring this FACT .

Firstly, I loved Tony to death. As a boy growing up in the Jamaica country-side (late 60s through 70s), listening to Tony Cozier (and Reds) with their cricket commentary on the radio was the great pastime. Oh, how we wanted to be like him/them.

Fast forward to the 2010s and Tony became unrecognizable if not embarrassing. Oh, how I wished he would retire gracefully.

On the above quote, I can't help but use the analogy of Helen Thomas, the Washington News Bureau (or something like that) news correspondent, who delighted in presenting the most 'toxic' of questions to the sitting President or aspiring ones. When George W. Bush became president, Helen was presented with re-assigned seating, to the very back of the press room to be precise.

What hero? As far as the WICB was concerned Tony was just another contract employee. Contracts are not automatically renewed .... they have to be vetted and in Tony's case they thought he has reached that age where even his eyesight was going.

If you are saying that it is because of his article in which he was critical of the WICB then that's good grounds for a non-renewal too. I am not going to pay you to disconnect the tubes while I am dying.....

POINT 2017-01-11 20:00:12

The point that has seemingly escaped
some in this Forum is this :

WAS WHAT TONY COZIER WROTE ACCURATE

OR WAS IT SOMETHING HE MANUFACTURED ??

My take is that this is very important
question , in essence some here are
of the opinion that :

THE WICBC MUST NEVER EVER BE

CRITICIZED BECAUSE IT IS INFALLIBLE .

That in my opinion is pure unadulterated Nonsense . When the People in the WICBC are wrong , THEY
MUST BE CALLED OUT .

It is this Colossal Arrogance , and
Dictatorial Attitude why Cricket in
the Region is slowly and certainly
failing , all this is due to the
fact that :

THE WICBC IS NOT TRANSPARENT ;

ACCOUNTABLE OR INTERESTED IN

EXERCISING GOOD GOVERNANCE .

The above is utra essential in any
Organized & Well Run Organization .
Obviously the People in the WICBC
for many decades have bluntly refused
to adhere the Principles of Good Governance .

Dave in Brooklyn with the usual political crew, right now, Utica and Farragut. Talking about getting a stadium in Brooklyn.

Was waiting on the questions but none will be taken.

Sad..kinda.

30 to 40 political operaratives in Brooklyn.

Sorry I can't figure out how to get video through rite now.

Metropolitan cricket league and politicos slapping each other on the backs.

Tagwa1 2017-01-11 21:53:15

Being commended for paying his own way and coming to help them.

We talked a lot though. Quite personal able I must say.

Said that in general what he is trying to do is to make the WICB a more professional body.

The biggest thing for this crowd is that 120 players now earn a salary and these Caribbean old timers want to kill me when I point out that this isn't because of Dave per se, since it happening all over the world.

Pro Dave crowd...so I joined them.

Tagwa 1 , is my very good Friend , He
would have had my permission to say that if he wanted to do that .

BTW , that meeting was held in Brooklyn , USA , therefore Tagwa 1 would have had all right to state whatever he wanted without fear of
any repercussions .

Lyndon Baines Johnson was the President of the USA when STOKELY
CARMICHAEL called Johnson a Honkey .
He was not arrested . More recently in an State of the Union Address ,
in Congress , while giving his Address , a man jumped up & Shouted
" YOU LIE " , and then sat down . He was not ejected from the Room .

Hello Chrissy. I can't say that I disagree with you. Cameron has done so many dastardly deeds, it's hard to keep count. He was found to be a congenital liar: dishonest, disreputable, disingenuous...

What good people who want to see better WI cricket and a Better WICB have to do is get on board and see how we can change and make things better.

Its easy to criticise and call for heads..but heads after heads nothing has changed.

So what has to be done is to find ways to expand the administration and deepen the competence of its structures and functionaries.

Transparent ; Accountable & adheres to

Anyone who can honestly state that the

No the WICB has been terribly run. In fact what I heard frombCameron this weekend basically echoes that.

However having worked in large organizations all my life, I kinda have a clue of how difficult this old boat, in dangerous unforgiving waters, will be to turn around.

It will take time...

In reply to Tagwa1

what exactly was the purpose of the
WICBC commissioning several Reports
and then swiftly rejecting them ??

The MIMIC MEN , whose leader is Emperor Cameron is GUILTY of Bamboozling the General Public into
believing that the Structure will change .

BUT IN ACTUALITY THE PEOPLE IN THE

WICBC DO NOT INTEND CHANGING THE

CURRENT STRUCTURE OF THE WICBC .

The current Structure is their Security Blanket , due to the fact that it does not require them to be Transparent ; Accountable or forces
them to exercise Good Governance .

Worse Yet is the fact that the International Cricket Cabal , refuses
to demand that its Members exercise
Good Governance .

Cameron & Co are also supported by
many Pseudo Sports Journalists who
are so freaking Blind , that they fail to see that the WICBC is TOXIC
to Cricket in the Region , along with
the Regional Boards .

I submit that the numerous fights that the WICBC has had with its Employees makes it a toxic to Corporations who would like to assist ..
