Bat on Joe...yuh going good.

"I'm all right. I played golf yesterday," he says. "When you get old, you can't chase cricket balls. You can go and beat the golf ball and walk behind it.

Good to see Joe Solomon still going strong.

Kanhai is doing well too.

Lovely article.
I'm wondering- does Port Mourant
still produce cricketers?

Yu have any recent photo of Kanhai?

I don't believe I have seen him in 20 years or so

I have one from 2012 on my site. Heard recently via Alvin Kalli that Rohan was doing alright.

Joe plays golf with some guys I know and that I play with on occasion. The last time I played with Joe was about 6 years ago. Joe plays well for someone around 80, at the time.

He is an easy going fella with some interesting stories on his West Indies days.

No.

Economic support for maintaining cricket grounds, etc, shifted to Albion since the 1970's, after which Port Mourant faded away as a cricket "power". There have been efforts recently (by expatriates) to restore previous high standards, but lack of coordination has thwarted them.

Thanks, that's a shame

I am happy I read this. Any story which includes Alvin Isaac Kallicharran is a good read.
