More Oil Found in Guyana
In reply to Runs
Rass this is leaning more on the Venezuela side. Dem can find anything northeast?
The Stabroek Block is 6.6 million acres (26,800 square kilometers). Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited is operator and holds 45 percent interest in the Stabroek Block. Hess Guyana Exploration Ltd. holds 30 percent interest and CNOOC Nexen Petroleum Guyana Limited holds 25 percent interest.
The people: 0%
So civilians will look to employment opportunities (high paying jobs*) on these oil findings since "wealth distribution" is zero...
With open eyes, Paradox of Plenty.
Jobs from oil:
* how many persons work on a typical oil rig? about 180 (mostly specialized and seldom local)
* refinery: if they develop that refinery after extracting oil.... that's where 2000 - 4000 jobs can come in.
The money in privatized offshore oil drilling seldom trickles down to the masses..... and comparatively, looking at Venezuela, even government run oil can be perilous.
help a simpleton out: who are the principals of "Production Guyana Limited"???
After colonisation the slaves worked here in Guyana to support the mother country, very little if anything was left in Guyana..How much will Guyanese benefit from the proceeds of the oil.

I already posted on this matter a few weeks ago and predicted that the only jobs will go to the concession and supplies people with small boats who will take stuff out to sea and blackmarket it to the foreigners. For example ... Brazillian prostitutes for the hard working men
In reply to Kay
Why Brazillian, the Guyanese not up to snuff?
In reply to Drapsey
Correction: Talking bout the Brazilians trading under the Guyana flag ....
Sad state of affairs have made many Guyanese negaholics. They cannot see any positiveness.
In reply to Runs
Well I admire your positivity sa.

In reply to Kay

TnT Minister Energy Minister Ramnarine gives Guyanese advice
Analysts at Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. Securities still think the news is positive for both companies. They estimated in a report in early January that the Payara-1 well is targeting 750 million barrels of oil equivalent. And given the latest news, they are now estimating the Liza find to contain 1.2 billion barrels. So in total, the Guyana discovery could reach 2 billion barrels -- which would be worth $100 billion at $50 oil.
Well....Halliburton was here recently as well. Along with what looked like Middle Eastern interests.

Its not often that a country goes from 0 to 60 so fast like this, said Matt Blomerth, head of Latin American Upstream Research for Wood Mackenzie, a consultancy firm. Industry excitement over Guyana was stirred by a widely distributed report on Friday by the firm that said, Guyana is rapidly joining the ranks of serious oil and gas players.

Yep, expect major problems the next election, Granger and Co will not let go of an oil rich Guyana, you see whats happening to the GECOM issue? Granger is interpreting the law allow him to pick the next chairman himself.
It will all boil down to who grants the US the best backball.
Mo money, mo problems. Seriously.
In reply to steveo
