WestDem 2017-01-16 10:39:00

WestDem 2017-01-16 10:50:21

In reply to googley

Ah know that your answer you wanted to give...as for me I am not sure how effective he would have been in all three formats!

WestDem 2017-01-16 10:52:42

In reply to googley

Why don't you just admit you are an alien, Kohli? Why don't you? Why? lol lol lol

Kay 2017-01-16 10:57:07

The better batsmen of this generation are more adept at multitasking since the game has moved on bigly and they have to think three formats instead of one.

For that reason I can't even consider Kanhai and Sobers in these conversations ... no hard feelings.

BTW Kohli for me too

Devin 2017-01-16 11:01:27

Darren Bravo and Jermaine Blackwood.

googley 2017-01-16 12:42:34

In reply to doosra

ah hear Lara was influenced by the Berbican Fredericks! And Tendy got Berbice connections too!!

WestDem 2017-01-16 12:45:14

In reply to doosra

You are actually correct, he was born in Berbice and after his dad became the Chairman of Guyoil, they moved to Duncan St....His cousin, Lynden Fraser played for Berbice and Guyana also...

Raggs 2017-01-16 12:52:54

Change the name of the brand then change the image of the brand's logo.

cricketmygame 2017-01-16 13:09:07

The most graceful one if you know he will make runs on that day is Hooper

Kohli for consistency to deliver

VIX 2017-01-16 13:38:49

doosra 2017-01-16 13:45:23

In reply to WestDem

sir carl.

WestDem 2017-01-16 14:53:54

In reply to jcveletta

As pretty as Sir Carl was, I think he would not be able to adjust like Kohli in all three formats...

WestDem 2017-01-16 14:54:43

In reply to Ridge

I can't wait for his return to England to get rid of allyuh one and only excuse... lol lol

Devin 2017-01-16 15:08:12

In reply to WestDem

Carl wasn't able to adjust in any format.

Bigzinc 2017-01-16 15:30:35

In reply to Devin

Hoops could have played in any era, in all formats. He was a brilliant fielder and quite a competent bowler as well.

Devin 2017-01-16 15:58:03

In reply to Bigzinc

No doubt he could've played in any era, but he wouldn't have been successful in any of them.

googley 2017-01-16 16:09:28

Sobers!

Oilah 2017-01-16 16:27:56

I would want to see someone I have never seen...Frank Worrell first, Sobers and Kanhai in dem prime

voiceofreason 2017-01-16 16:31:05

TheTrail 2017-01-16 18:05:41

The current batsmen I would pay to see bat are:

Kohli

Cook

Root

Amla

In any format.

Devin 2017-01-16 18:22:59

In reply to TheTrail

Alastair Cook?

Baje 2017-01-16 19:15:33

Lara.

Kohli is somewhat boring. He lacks that dash and is strokes have a certain mechanical inevitability about them. I cannot really see anything distinctive about him.
I like batsmen with a distinctive flair.

rudebway 2017-01-16 19:39:34

the Master Blaster, Vivian Richards.

as a kid, i use to cheer for Haynes and Richie Richardson to get out. (at that time Richardson had just broken into the team and was coming in at 3)

Devin 2017-01-16 19:54:08

In reply to Baje

Kohli's wristy drives and flcks are arguably the most beautiful shots in the game today. He also has the ability to play three different drives to a delivery.

Conventional, wristy, and the one where he frees his arms and plays with a touch of that "Caribbean flair."

His style and technique are distinctive, because when you think about it, he doesn't resemble anyone in today's game, or anyone I can think of from the past.

Devin 2017-01-16 20:04:42

Check the shots at 0:46 and 1:42.

Khaga 2017-01-16 20:21:36

Some of those forceful drives thru the offside are like penalty corners shots from Field hockey..they are as brutal as they are elegant..

In reply to Khaga

I like the analogy.

summergon 2017-01-16 21:38:15

Does he play backfoot shots?

Devin 2017-01-17 07:15:53

In reply to summergon

He played a few delectable back cuts vs Mitchell Johnson down under. He plays the cut shot well these days, and he's one of the best pullers/hookers of the short delivery.

ray 2017-01-17 09:08:12

Kanhai

Bigzinc 2017-01-17 09:50:11

In reply to tc1

Yes but it would have been an enjoyable and effortless 25. Hoops was batting artistry a la Rohan.

tc1 2017-01-17 10:04:29

In reply to Bigzinc

stop right now, u cannot place Hooper & Rohan in the same sentence when batting is a topic. The more appropriate setting would be Hooper and Marlon.

WestDem 2017-01-17 10:26:56

Since Kohli started his International Career, this is his overall ranking among the best! cool

Bigzinc 2017-01-17 11:09:31

In reply to tc1

Marlon steupps... Hoops makes marlon look ugly.

doosra 2017-01-17 11:13:26

In reply to tc1

Marlon and Hooper in the same sentence?

Look Samuels plays a pretty shot now and then...other than that he's just a pretty pretender big grin

Bigzinc 2017-01-17 11:47:51

In reply to doosra

is only yardies rate marlon the poser samuels

Devin 2017-01-17 11:48:41

Samuels ungainly as rasshole. The only thing he does is hold a pose.

googley 2017-01-17 11:51:30

Sarwan over Marlon any day!

Bigzinc 2017-01-17 12:06:16

TanteMerle 2017-02-09 16:30:49

Such is the class of Sobers, Viv and Lara
that they would have excelled.

I am sick of you young idiots
trying to think.
please don't, you a rasshole idiots.

Looks at the changes of times:
Helmets versus none.
Batsmen favoured rules.
Limits to short balls.
Wicket better prepared and covered.

Skunts like Devin should
appreciate what we have now.

But please don't compare these softies
to the past true greats.

Comparing present with pass is
good only for conversation sake.

It's an impossible task.

NOW THAT'S FACTS.

rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes

Devin 2017-02-09 16:35:35

In reply to TanteMerle

When I post about Kohli, is y'all does have to bring up past players yuh know, not me.

Each era had it's own unique challenges. These days the pitches and bat sizes make it easier for batsmen, but technology(DRS) is more beneficial to bowlers than batsmen. What batsmen were able to do for 100 years(padding up), can't be done anymore.

There are more genuinely quick bowlers these days than ever before. There are three formats of cricket, so the truly great batsmen have to constantly adapt. You all continue to blame T20 cricket for the demise of West Indian batsmen. That mindset can only serve to elevate certain modern day players.

Have you ever heard of 'Philosophy'

In other words,

More games, but professional players.

These men get pain 24/7.
No need to do other work to feed families.
Train and play, that it.
Agents etc do their paper work.

Older players had to have their own
workout regime.
No physiotherapists at their disposal.
No analyst.
should i go on.

I love Veerat.
Not worship him like you,
but I don't hold it against you
That's your prerogative.
I just don't respect the comparing thing.

On bare stats, Don is the greatest.

If i had to pay to see one batsman today
I would be stuck between Veerat and ABD360.
