How would you rate the Islands beers
In reply to openning
Fraid to comment boy,for fear of being labelled and alcoholic or 'beer belly'.
..
In reply to bravos
Sometime you must block out the noise, but Wadadli on tap is the worst tasting beer, ever.
Red Stripe is the best for me. Smooth taste and not too bitter.

Which Banks? Guyana or Barbados?
Presidente all the way
1) Red Stripe
2) Carib
3) Hairoun (St Vincent)
4) Banks
But I'm biased....
In reply to Maispwi
Banks, Barbados
In reply to openning
Thats funny, an island living school friend of mine recently told me Guyanese Banks was one of the things he missed most about his birthland
In reply to steveo
Caribs and Red Stripe are sold in most liquor stores in Alberta, Banks was here for a year or so, and then discontinued
In reply to openning
I used to get Banks (Guyana) in Ontario in the mid 80s
In the States, Carib is hard to find but Red Stripe is ubiquitous in stores now in East Coast USA
Hairoun is very good, but I confess, only Stouts in that department for me.
In reply to pelon
Red Stripe is readily available here in Texas. It's not my favorite but it's a good beer.
they are all piss water. best beer is grolsch or Tennents, or stella, if you like beer.
i hate beer- piss water
In reply to sudden
Good beers, I have not had tennents
In reply to sudden

Yuh hanging with Trump now?
Trump like European Blond (piss) too.

None of those for my glass.
They are more likely to give you stomach cramps.
I have had this beer on tap in Ottawa over the summer. I believe could get it at your local LCBO.
In reply to XFactor
However, the BEST beer I've had was Guinness at the Storehouse in Dublin, Ireland.
In reply to RemainsUnknown
If you like Guinness, then you may like Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout from North Coast Brewing Company.
I like craft beers, there are so many good ones to list.
In reply to XFactor
Southern Tier makes some great one. Pumking is my favorite from them.
Innis & Gunn makes a rum-cask oak-aged beer. excellent.
Too many, indeed to list them all.
Banks
Carib
Red Stripe
Stag
In reply to Runs
I nevah had Stag but Pastor seems to like it.
In reply to DukeStreet
Very light
In reply to Runs
My uncle used to say when he went to GT, he never drank any water. Only Banks and more Banks. Even if he was there for weeks.
Drinking any beer for 2 weeks straight and it will become your favorite.

I never liked Beer. Only thing I could mildly tolerate is an evil Corona.
In reply to black
Did that with Heineken. Still hate it.
In reply to nick2020
Heineken has to be just the right temperature. Just above freezing or it doesn't taste right to me.
In reply to black
When the bottle has a mist like coating. In Santo Domingo dey call it la ceniza
In reply to Maispwi
Yes, that is perfect.
Have you been to Hooters? All the bottle beers are set at that temperature.
In reply to nick2020
That was the first beer I drank at around 16-17 years old. I really hated it, but wanting to appear hip, I forced it down...fast forward 1 month later, heineken was my tonic.
Outside of small brewerys, its the best beer in my opinion, the taste is so clean and fresh, absolutely love it
In reply to steveo
Yep. Drink it enough and you'll start to like it. A lot of it is personal taste also.
In reply to black
Was introduced to it in Santo Domingo.
Not a breast enthusiast so Hooters won't attract me. Am of the opinion dat a mouthful is all dats needed. Anything more and you run the risk of suffocation
In reply to steveo
Are you into Micro brew?
I am not a Beer connoisseur , but my nephew is kind of.
He has gone to Beer sampling in Ireland, Germany, Usa and a number of provinces in Canada.
He dislike Heineken, say the green bottle attracts to my light, his favourite beers are the IPL or microbrewery
In reply to Maispwi
Presidente all the way
If it is "Island Beer" it would be Barbados
In reply to openning
I live in Guyana now, the only kind of micro brew we have is called "bush rum"
Anyway, I had a chance encounter with Micro brewery beers in a Manhattan bar a long while back, that stuff is on a whole 'nother level, expensive too.
In reply to black
Yeah, but now I have drank a wide selection and Heineken is the king. One time there was a keg can that held about 2-3 times a regular can, that really hit the spot.
In reply to steveo
I like Heineken, not my favorite though, I prefer lite beers these days.
In reply to black
You sound like a bud lite man
In reply to steveo
Bud lite or Miller lite.
My top 3 after extensive tasting research
1st - Guinness
2nd [to last] - Banks Milk Stout
3rd [to last] everything else
realistically
Guinness
Banks Milk Stout
Banks Beer [Guyana]
Carib
Red Stripe
Them guys at work got me trying out craft beers here in toronto though...i like the 3 speed from Amsterdam Brewery, nice and crisp and goes down nice on a hot day.
Hate steamwhistle [even though it's our flagship beer ]
In reply to openning
1. Banks -- Guyana
2. Carib
3. Stag
. Red Stripe?
5. Wadadli Never heard of it.
Anyone ever had Parbo?
In reply to openning
Actually, I like German beer.
Ever had Sleeman loger? Nice!
In reply to steveo
The only beer I could actually tolerate was Sam Adams. But boy they have so many variations.
In reply to black
Bud lite or Miller lite, really man?
I bet you already have a beer belly from drinking Bud lite and Miller lite.
Stretch the beer budget and buy something decent nuh, unless you are drinking beer for the sole purpose of getting alcohol in your system.
Sport a little next time and buy some upmarket beer, then youll know what beer really taste like.
In reply to XFactor
Bud lite cost just as much as the import beers.
I made a conscious decision to go with the light beers and I love it. Like I said, if you drink something long enough, you'll start to like it.
In reply to nick2020
Why am I wasting time with you? You're not even a beer drinker.
Any of you been to the Beir Market in Toronto?
In reply to black
The extent of my beer drinking is a few sips reserved for backyard BBQs with family and friends.
I usually seek out new taste from microbreweries. Most craft beers are great, usually much better than the dirty water that big brewers marketing campaigns call beer.
At the end of the day the conversation that ensues around the different craft beers are a good hoot.
In reply to summergon
On the Esplanade?
Lots of imported beer on tap if I remember correctly, not many craft beer.
In reply to XFactor
They are a few other locations around like Square One, Don Mills and on The Queensway. They have over 150 brands of beer and you are right not many craft beer.
The problem with this thread is that most people live in a bubble.
Presidente is the best IMO though Beer is scarcely my thing.
Id rate it
Presidente
Banks
Carib
Kubuli
Red Stripe
Hairoun
Wadadli
In reply to Commie
It's a matter of personal taste.
You cannot say this beer is best or that beer is best. Presidente is best for you.
In reply to black
Yes agreed but you would think if you want to start a thread like that, you have a wider berth of beers to talk about.
In reply to Commie
Banks
Carib
Kubuli
Red Stripe
Hairoun
Wadadli
I haven't had all the beers on that list but I would rate Red Stripe pretty high.
