If I was Dowrich I would run too

methodic 2017-02-02 09:21:15

ah mean the light bad and the man bowling a hundred miles per hour. That don't mean he is not the best young bat in the region. He still played the key innings.

Some here are saying , Dowrich did not run.

It was his technique in playing the very fast stuff wink

I like Dowrich more than anybody on his board and in all my years of watching and playing cricket; how he played is defined as running.

POINT 2017-02-02 09:53:38

I would like to know , if indeed the
Light was bad . If it was bad , then the onus was on the Umpires to tell the Captain of the Fielding Team that Pace Bowlers must not be given the ball to bowl .

The onus was also on the batsmen at the crease , if the light was bad, to
speak to the Umpires regarding the light being bad , it that was the case .

The above shows how well you follow cricket, and know the rules.
!. These day/night games are played under lights.
2. The umpires are solely responsible for play and stoppage, due to light reading
3. The rules of appealing for light by a batsman, stopped ages ago.

some of the Barbadians on this board claim the lighting at the ground is poor.

Baje 2017-02-02 14:13:00

In reply to methodic
Poor is relative. the lights just not up to the standard of lights in Australia, England etc..unless they updated them in the recent past..

POINT 2017-02-02 14:40:07

In reply to methodic

The point I was / am making is that if indeed the Lighting was poor it obviously means that the Team that batted during the day , had an advantage over the team that batted in the " POOR" Lighting conditions .

What would happen if God forbid Dowrich was struck in his head and then had to undergo an Operation , similar to the Contractor , who was struck on the head by a bouncer from
Charlie Griffith ????

It aint right in my opinion if one Team has better Lighting when it
came to the crease to bat than when the other Team came to the crease .

Baje , thanks for your comments , it buttresses the point I have made . I
understand the reasoning for day / night matches , however the well being of Players must be the paramount consideration .

Turn your television to the game in progress, you I'll see at 6:00 pm what the lights are like
Methodic, is just having fun
All International teams, have been playing under lights in the region, since the World Cup
A pink ball is being used in Test cricket, when played under lights

My Question is this :

IS THE LIGHTING AT NIGHT COMPARABLE

TO THE LIGHTING IN THE DAY ??????

I am of the opinion that this is not
a complicated Question , so the
answer should not be complicated . My perspective is that all that is required is a simple YES or No .

I hope that you would readily agree
with me that fairness is essential in
all Sports . Improper Lighting as you may know produces Shadows that can
mar Matches played under Lights .

Yes
Think of watching a baseball game, Tennis, NFL or an NBA game under lights, then you will understand the difference.
The only disadvantage for a teamp playing at night, is the dew factor, and it is usually the fielding team, that is disadvantage.
Most ODI games and all T20 are played under lights, and I am yet to hear anyone complain

The umpires carry light meters, which meant the lights has to be at a certain reading to play the game.
Leewards is playing T&T and in an hour or so, the lights will come on, no different from playing during the day.

Some may argue that they see the ball better under lights.

An Antiguan buddy told me last Sunday, having dinner and watching cricket in a box at sticky wicket, during Sanford tournament
He marvelled at being in a box, and watching cricket under lights.

I hope you are watching the game, to see if playing under lights, is different from day light.
Leewards openers are beating up on the T&T bowlers and it is not day light.
