The island paradise of Barbados

Larr Pullo 2017-02-13 01:54:18

If you don't record the crime, then it doesn't enter into the statistics right? sad

Bajans subscribe to this "grab em" thing too

Yesterday Miss Najuk and Mr Pownall, who run a business together, warned the island was far from the ‘safe paradise’ it seems in tourist brochures.

Miss Najuk said: ‘The island is not as peaceful as the authorities might have you believe. I suffered an extremely traumatic ordeal but the police couldn’t have been less caring.’

Daily Mail i suppose

Dear Larr

It's extremely naive for any adult in this era to expect a paradise anywhere in the world.

So, is Pollo's question rhetorical?

I don't know what you mean

My condolences to the lady on what happened to her.

She said she was so exasperated that she left without filing a statement

She has had no further contact from the Barbadian authorities – who are yet to make an arrest.

Make an arrest with no statement on file.

Police drove Miss Najuk around the area looking for the suspect, but there was no sign of him.

Does not sound like they did not care.

Mrs Knight, who is also from Nottingham, said: ‘Crime definitely seems to be on the increase in Barbados right now.

This seems to be using the specific to describe to general.

To quote Pollo...

If you don't record the crime, then it doesn't enter into the statistics right?

The question answers itself, and by extension, suggests that BIM's low crime rate claim is disingenuous.

MY first reaction was to look on the date of the story, to see if it was a repost because this is about the third such story since 2015 of police acting in that manner.

Looks like you're easily satisfied... sometimes a good trait.

Head in sand. Unlike others, they never own up...

defeyeant 2017-02-13 12:05:04

Not saying she wasnt attacked but its questionable the police would drive you around looking for a suspect and not take a statement.

Also come on now this is Barbados where allya duz complain that the white tourists duz get better treatment than anybody else. Ya really feel Barbados gine treat a tourist woman so?

So I know a tourist who went to Bim and was robbed, and the cops didn't seem to even want to take a report. Then they never emailed a copy of the report as promised after the person left.

That's why this womans experience sorta rings true.

FuzzyWuzzy 2017-02-13 13:45:50

In reply to Larr Pullo

Nick2020 addressed that. Would the police drive someone around looking for a criminal if they were not interested? Hmmmm

Larr Pullo 2017-02-13 13:49:13

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

They drove my friend around too, BUT even after they caught the guys, they acted like the whole thing was a huge inconvenience, AND THEY NEVER SENT THE REPORT!

You were there when she was raped? Did give the police a statement?

Crime happens all over the world, to write the above is to bring out the anti Bajan gangs.
Jahjah, for every one in bim, their must be 10000 in the yard.
