Stoute is an excellent medium fast bowler and a limited but good batsman for a crisis when down the order. So he is selected to open the batting and is not allowed to bowl a single over in the tournament. Seems like only grudging acceptance of him in the team. Story of Stoute's career in Bim cricket.

Still no Stoute bowl even in garbage time..
In reply to Logic
I am surprise that he did not bowled in any of the games, I would like to see Cummins in for Dowrich in the final, since his batting so far is not needed.
In reply to openning
He only played 4 matches...Bim didn't need him to bowl...only the spinners were completing their 10 overs...and even for dem...it was only when necessary
Check these stats

Carlos has a rate of about seven per game, thats not good enough, but anything can happen in the finals.
I still would like to see the extra bowler, since Dowrich batting has not been needed, and he is batting so low.

I would like to see Jason Holder complete his 10 overs....in preparation for the ODIs against England
In reply to openning
You would drop maybe the best batsman..Dowrich..and keep Stoute...
In reply to Narper
Jason should never bowl 10 overs..unless he bowling on the trot. Never ever should he bowl at the death
In reply to Baje
Why did they not open in the series with Dowrich, after Alleyne when down?
Stoute opened the last 3-4 games, I would keep him in the squad and bring Cummins in for Dowrich in the finals.
Horses are for courses, and Dowrich batted so low, that his batting was hardly needed.
They may be a risk using Dowrich as an opener in the finals, since he batted very little in the series, thats why I prefer Stoute to open.
In reply to openning
I rather go with my best bat. If Stoute is not bowling..is value is diminished. Dowrich can win us a match with his batting. I dont see Stoute doing that.
In reply to Baje
So where will he bat, and who will partner Kraigg?
Way were you when Stoute replaced Alleyne, and your best bat not getting time at the crease to prove his worth?
In reply to openning
I think Stoute is doing a great job at the top, he giving you a quick 30
In reply to Narper
few more ova,few more wickets few more points
I think Holder is not following his team's progression. Carlos always seems to concede runs and he needs a sixth option in Carter/Stoute.....or rather needed cuz I can't see him NOT bowling during a whole tournament and then bowling them in a finals.
Its not always you are going to win at a canter. The last clash with Jamaica his fast bowlers were being pounded and he had noone to turn to until wisdom finally told him to introduce Nurse.
Stoute needs to relocate to the Jaguars and join his compatriot Reifer.
In reply to openning and Baje
Ithink you are both wrong...or i could say both right. No way that i would drop Dowrich. Dowrich is the type of player thats not needed when the sun's shining but as soon as things get a little hazy you will see the panic set in the likes of Carter and co. and its a guy like Dowrich who will stand up. The same in my view applies to Stoute.
Its no surprise that Dowrich's best score was in that low scoring first match against Jamaica...batting second. Without his runs we would have lost. Similarly Stoutes best score was his 50 in the low scoring second match against Guyana when Kraigg was out in the first over ...again we were batting second. Without those runs we would have lost.
Dowrich is a better bat than Stoute and would to me be a more logical choice to open the innings. Stoute is a wicket taking bowler and would be a more potent option as first change than Carlos. No need for Cummins...just bowl Stoute who was our leading wicket taker in the early part of the 4 day series.
Putting Stoute to open and not giving him a bowl suggests to me that once again he is only being grudgingly accepted as a stopgap in the team. But check Stoute history of when he makes runs and takes wickets...like Dowrich he is a crisis performer and those type of guys are few and far between.

Excellent analysis!

I was here wondering if they were going mad talking about dropping Dowrich!
In reply to Logic
I could not agree with you more, I was wonder the same thing with respect to Dowrich opening the innings. Glad to see someone raise this issue.
In reply to shivnotout
Bhai you so smart....how come you liming so low dong in the league
In reply to Logic
Your analysis more suited for when Alleyne came down with his injury, than the finals.
The selectors replaced Alleyne with Stoute, leaving Dowrich to bat at six or lower, he had very little chance to bat in this series, so why would you open with him, in the final match?
I will be surprise to see Stoute bowling or Dowrich opening in the match
I am only writing of what has occurred during the series, Kraigg was allowed to bowl two changes during the last match against Jamaica
Being the best batsman and now allowed to bat up the order in any match, now you want to put pressure on the youngster, by opening with him, in the finals.
That make no sense, he is not a machine, that you can program.

Man you behaving like Kelly-Anne. You the one that brought up dropping the guy with the best temperament in wi cricket for a final and now you deflecting by questioning the wisdom of changing the batting order in the same final. I agree that changing the batting order would be risky in a final, but I was responding to the suggestions to drop Dowrich or Stoute. Don't worry about Dowrich not getting a bat. If Barbados bats second he is almost certain to get a bat as other guys start choking themselves out. Conversely if any of the Jamaicans get away the way they did against TnT and start slapping Carlos and Benn all over the place, the cappo would be a fool to not cave in and give Stoute a bowl...for the first time in the tournament.
In reply to openning
For the record.....Alleyne is not injured............
In reply to Logic
thats what I was saying...Holder had ample opportunities against CCC,ICC Americas, even Leewards yesterday to bowl Carter/Stoute and he didn't.
Is he going to wait until Carlos gets pounded to introduce them in the finals for the first time?
I don't know about Benn being pounded...Jamaica looked very shaky against the Bajan spinners at Kensington...Holder unfortunately might not know this.
In reply to Logic
Bro I still would drop Dowrich, since he never opened in the tournament and replace him with Cummins
You must have been looking for your brother, during the match against Jamaica, when Kraigg had two bites of the cherry, Stoute is not going to get the ball, Carter, Kraigg yes, Stoute, I dont see it.
In reply to openning
It would be a mistake I think to drop Dowrich Bim needs that added pressure on the Jamaican bowler the fact that he is on the team does that. I prefer Dowrich bat to Cummins bowling. The bowling I feel is adequate and Stouts I feel is just as capable as Carlos. Unfortunately, Stoute was not given the ball which I thing is a mistake by Jason.
I would have loved to see Rashidi opening against Lev and Jerome. Shots from now till next week.
In reply to Outswinger
Then he goes for ten
Dude if you are a member of Spartan, assist Rashidi in batting, it is all about building an inning, when batting, not impressing the spectators.
In reply to openning
Nope. Not a Spartan man. But agree on Rashidi needing some more stickability.
Dowrich is one if the best batsmen in Bim but is slotted too low. He should be openning the innings. He will but his natural way there more than lowe in the lineup. He is wasting away low like that. He is one of the few stroke makers in tge WI right now.
Big final going according to script. Stoute performing above his talent level. Carter performing way below his.
And as promised Dowrich in with nuff overs to go.
Let's hope Carlos and Chase bowls well
