Dwight Yorke 'DENIED" access to US

Narper 2017-02-17 09:45:42

DWIGHT YORKE was denied entry into United States on Friday due to the travel ban imposed by US President Donald Trump.

Yorke, who is the former Soca Warriors captain and Manchester United striker, was denied transit access to Miami because he has an Iranian stamp on his passport, according to a tweet by media anchor Richard Keys.

The mind when it reaches its limits, must make a judgement and chose its conclusions----Albert Camus

This is what happens when you ask people with limited abilities to make decision ---- now we can understand why the judges knock down the ban ---- if the word Iran, Syria, etc. shows up – then the answer is an automatic NO! -------- that kind of absolutism makes no sense.

I have options and I don't care to be missed...and if you're really in a position to make that comment to a very productive paying customer then clearly you lack the basic fundamentals to manage or grow business prospects let alone make a positive contribution to 'your' country..very familiar..

It's much easier and now even cheaper to deal in the UK and Europe as we have proper trade channels,I cannot control how I'm treated as a good customer but I can control where I choose to patronize.

This is no empty rant,I have my invoices, your scope is very limited, familiar?

According to the Mirror UK, Yorke had previously played in a charity match in Iran in August 2015 and was prevented from passing through customs and immigration in Miami.

The news agency reported that money raised from the charity game was donated to people suffering from multiple sclerosis.

I will state it here again.

Americans are inherently stupid and such stupidity does not discriminate.

I was asked by a real estate agent in McAllen, Texas if they have real banks in Canada. This was a serious question.

Can you picture any Canadian professional asking if they have real banks in the USA?

One result of the Trump reign is that men in uniform rule whether its black at the border, blue within and cold as Ice.

Ice agents are on the NY subway, in plainclothes during rush hour. I just got a note from a good source verifying.

How in hell do they differentiated undocumented during rush hour? How do they do it? figure out of black, white, brown, yellow people...who are the undocumented? This country is fast becoming if not already, like the old soviet union that was mocked for locking down its citizens behind the iron curtain.

This land of the free and home of the brave, where keystrokes, emails, telephone conversations, facial recognition, cameras, financial information, can all be accessed under the mantra of Homeland security...full stop....Man woman child, assets can be seized at the slightest suspicion. If this is not a throwback to the old Soviet union, East Germany, I don't know what it.

In reply to steveo

Yep, but when they raid businesses etc they will ensnare illegals without criminal records. If you use a fake ss # for employment that is a crime. Immigration lawyers are going even so far as to suggest if you are within 100 miles of any border, if you are a greencard holder or naturalized citizen you should have proof of it on you to eliminate unnecessary problems. They are targetting immigrant neighborhoods and as some have said the hope is that they will be fair and also target the Eastern European neighborhoods here in NY also. I heard this week they were in Richmond Hills, Queens going into businesses on Liberty Avenue.

Trust me they can be stripped of citizenshipcool
One of the more common ways in which the revocation provisions are applied is against a naturalized citizen who is found to have participated in persecution or genocide, or to have been involved with the Nazi party, the Communist party, or a terrorist organization. That person may be subject to revocation of citizenship on the grounds that he or she concealed a lack of attachment to the U.S. Constitution. cool

Yes, technically but the way you simplified it- you stressed "naturalized" and the way you casually stated it is mis-leading

Before a person (US born or foreign born) can be stripped of her citizenship- it will take years and the US Supreme Court will have the final say.

It beyond any formof bureaucratic bungling to refuse Yorke's entry. If the purpose of the law is to provide support for

‘I FELT LIKE A CRIMINAL’

TRINIDAD and Tobago sporting ambassador and ex-Manchester United star forward Dwight Yorke suffered the indignity on Wednesday night, of being blocked from boarding a flight bound for the United States, after he was red-flagged by airport officials in Qatar.

Yorke, the holder of a diplomatic passport, was in Qatar performing commentary duties for BeIN Sports TV for Thursday’s Europa League match featuring Manchester United against St Etienne.

The 45-year-old is a Manchester United legend and has been a club ambassador for quite some time. Like many TT nationals abroad, though, Yorke loves his Carnival and was coming home for the “Greatest Show on Earth” but was unable to do so as his flight to this country was via Miami.

Surprisingly, a visit to Iran in 2015, barred him from entering the United States on Wednesday.

Yorke’s trip to the Middle East in 2015, lasted less than 24 hours, where he played a charity match alongside other football legends such as Portugal’s Luis Figo, Brazilian Roberto Carlos and Netherlands’ Edgar Davids.

Commie 2017-02-18 20:06:05

Kay 2017-02-18 20:35:49

In reply to Commie

I think the point some are trying to make here is that regardless of what stamp is in his passport he done name Yorke and that qualifies him to piss on anybody's law. De man is a diplomat..... a simple Google could have verified smile

bravos 2017-02-18 21:48:17

In reply to Kay

Yeah and he made similar passes through the US a few times since his Iran day trip, and even went to NY from Mia and also LA...yeah so explain that? What's the difference now?

And yes in progressive society we can now use a number of available tech to accommodate or even verify a traveler, especially one with a diplomatic passport, especially one that' so easily verifiable,Trump's USA is the difference..a diplomatic passport means something if you didn't know..this was just a display of pure arrogance.

I'm now of mixed feelings knowing he wouldn't last the year but a small part of me is hoping that he stays around so cheerleaders like some of you could feel the pain..It may not be limited to a travelling situation...keep giving Trump rope, make sure and stock up on grease..

Kay 2017-02-18 22:00:11

In reply to bravos

Those trips were most probably before Trump's 90 day limitation period. He will most likely be allowed in again without questions after the limitation expires....

bravos 2017-02-18 22:03:46

In reply to Kay

Right so clearly Trump's USA is the difference now...that's all we're saying..when you denying a man like Yorke no matter the situation on the day you on the wrong track..you are actually misusing and misdirecting resources and fooling yourself..sounds very Trump like. Must we support this injustice because it can be applied to some broader legal machinery? An Iran stamp is only one component, there are other factors that applied in Obama's USA hence he was never stopped before.

che 2017-02-19 07:47:13

Yorke was banned under a rule of the Obama administration which prevents people with a stamp from Iran and the seven countries from being able to enter USA without a visa.

He was stopped from boarding the plane in Quatar. A fact that is being omitted. The flight was bound for Miami. He did not even reach the US.

This Dwight Yorke guy disowned his handicapped son Harvey. So let's not make him out to be a saint

shock

TheTrail 2017-02-19 12:40:26

The former TT football captain was forced to buy a ticket to England where he reportedly spent the night before booking a flight direct to Trinidad and Tobago yesterday morning. “All I was doing was trying to get home for the build up to the Carnival season.

I have never had anything like this happen before. I have travelled the world for years as a footballer and ambassador for Manchester United and my country without any problems. I am stunned at what has happened,” he said.

Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi, commenting on the situation yesterday, told Newsday: “We are clarifying the position. The Government considers Dwight Yorke to be be an ambassador for Trinidad and Tobago. He should be the recipient of a diplomatic passport to address any issue of his status with respect to Trinidad and Tobago.

The present situation with Yorke involves some personal issues and the full facts must be found out.”

Narper 2017-02-19 23:05:43

But commenting on the issue at a news conference, yesterday, minutes after his arrival from the 28th Intersessional Meeting of the Caricom Community in Guyana, Rowley told reporters:

“Proper information needs to be had by persons who are engaging in international travel.” He added: “What has happened there is that Mr Yorke is a dual citizen and travels on a British passport sometimes.” Rowley said in Yorke using the British passport and presenting himself as a British citizen, he would have not required a visa because he would have fallen under the visa waiver which applies for a number of countries, the UK being one of them
.

“So, travelling with a UK passport, and I am sure he would have done that before, would not have required a US visa.” Rowley said, however, that under the Obama administration, a new law was passed in the US which indicated that even though a waiver exists for citizens of those countries including the UK, “if such citizens had been to certain countries, Iran being one of them, then the waiver no longer applies, meaning that if you are a British citizen and you travel to a place like Iran, you would require a visa.

“And, if you did not get that visa, with your British passport, you are in effect attempting to enter the US without a visa and it is on that basis that you would be stopped.

“I think that is what happened to Mr Yorke and I am sure that is something that he will address, travelling with a UK passport. If he was travelling with a TT passport he would have been very aware that we in Trinidad and Tobago require a visa to go into the US.” Rowley said Yorke’s visa was “nullified by virtue of the fact that the law now says that if you have been to Iran, Iraq or Syria, you would no longer come in without a visa.”
