5 Reasons Leeward Islands Hurricanes Not In WICB Super50 Final
LI wanted to ein without Bonner to show that they have the local players to win without any outside help..
They castigate the WICB yet the local entities tend to do the same myopic nonesense.
LI bowling suck..
The 5 Reasons given could have been summed up as, the LI played poorly against the best team in the Region, I think the LI team, up to the last game, played well, since they have been the worst team in the Region for a few years now.

Hosein from Anguilla or Nevis?

Isn't he a TT
In reply to Maispwi
Hosein is from Trinidad.
Must be a myopic, insular Yardie who wrote this drivel. Bonner averaged 21 this tournament and he played all 8 matches. I would have played him still though as he cannot do much worse than Peters and Hughes.

I would way Leewards's major issue is that their trump Quick "Alzhari Joseph" did not do well.
With good Cornwell and Hossein doing well and batsmen firing, all they wanted was their Quicks firing.
All said, after a long time i am seeing Leewards perform good through a trournament

The VOR, not blind Bartimaeus, commendable! - you are making the writer's point!
In reply to Pacy
That is true. The 317 should have been restricted to 250-280. Be that as it may LICA's failure to organize a proper tournament to identify talent is the biggest problem. This is the main reason why we are recycling mediocre players on a consistent basis.

I am making the writer's point but he made it based on favoritism rather than good reasoning based on the facts.
Well Bim is no diffrent.
Why de hell Stoute in the team is beyond me.
I Bim plays the same team, Ja should win.
Bim has no firepower at the top.
Kraigg i still too slow.
If he bats 50 overs, he ill kill Bim.
100 to 120 not out.
Soaking up too much balls
and pressuring the other batsmen.
No Matrix to push at the top.
My prediction Bim will lose.

Writer - Although Bonner, may not have been at the top of his game in the early qualifiers
I rest my case, other posters may tell you Trumpism is alive here!
In reply to XDFIX
This conclusion is what I am not in agreement with.
My point is based on his 21 ave this series and 32 ave career wise there is no way the writer could be sure that he would have made a difference so to say that we lost because of his omission is clearly not based on logic so it must be favoritism.
Like I said play him cause he is the best of a sorry middle order this season but based on his track record there is no way that anyone could say that his presence would have made a difference in the result.

Kraigg is known, so the dasher batsmen must play their role and not be making excuses about Kraigg. kraigg is given the anchor role; bat deep into the overs. The others have to bat around him.
Article seemed a little biased in the way it was written.
There were many reasons why we lost but it really comes down to too many bad decisions in the selection of the team. Otto at 3 was always going to be a gamble. The man at 3 has to be a solid batsman capable of batting deep into the innings. He isnt. Bonner should never have been droped from the team and hughes still in it. Tonge should never have been dropped for peters. He has been the most economical seamer on the team. Only reason to leave him out is to bring in an extra spinner if its a low, slow track. Loius showed some ability with the bat which by the way is very similar to what you'd get from tonge, and theyre both far more effective with bat or ball than Peters has been all season. So you can see just how badly they messed up the team selection.
Powell
Hodge
Otto
Bonner
Hamilton
Hosein
Cornwall
Tonge
Loius
Campbell
Joseph
Thats how you pick a team.

A little biased you think. Bonner's absence is not one of the reasons why we lost.
The biggest problem we have is that LICA needs to have a proper 3 day/ 1 day tournament so we could have a proper pool to select players from. We just recycling the same mediocre players like Peters, Willett and the like.
Now instead of suggesting Bonner as one of the reasons here is a crucial one: Marlon selfish Samuels. The decision to select him and have him use us just to play two games to be eligible for selection was a major blunder. As a result Leewards could not get a replacement player and perhaps we could have selected another player from outside the sub-region to replace him but we did not have that luxury. Due to injury Cooper was replaced by Louis.

Perhaps the writer should have made the broader point of team selection, a la aliaskid13, but to accuse the writer of favoritism is balderdash!
I for sure thought that this Leewards team was unstoppable but hindsight is the best indicator. Here is why I think they lost.
1. Too dependent on one person for heavy scoring.
2. Weakness in the the bowling got exposed.
3. Weakness in batting got exposed.
4. JA peaked at the end of tournament.
5. Overconfidence caused Leewards to not prepare, adequately.
In reply to voiceofreason
That is true. There is no indication through the tournament that he had it in him to contribute.
In reply to XDFIX
None of the players from LI are better than Bonner so its just crazy to have left him out..

It have another role he could play?
In reply to TanteMerle
Matrix led his team to victory today, and probably got paid well to do it.

Unstoppable? Look! They were in the weaker division, and still came second. At that point, you should have realized it was all over.
Openers looked good throughout. They had no real penetrative bowling to speak of on those good wickets. If Hughes had fired, maybe they had a chance.
