but it looks like there is a law in Jamaica that you can criticize yuh own....that shot was uglier that that over bowled by Savitree... lol

You and Larr wid dis Savitri business. The only Savitri I know is my future mother-in-law, potentially.

Is funny when I hear people say that he's being influenced by T20 cricket. He can't make it in T20 cricket either, due to the fact that he only has one shot.

Tell your future wife that part of you marrying her is yuh mother in law name change.

As for our SAVITREE, that was not only a game changing over but a championship one!

All mental...dat man got all de natural gifts for batting but de mental approach. That can be fixed and I hope it is fixed because he is a real talent.

What natural gifts and talent do you speak of? He has one or two shots at best. He cannot defend, and he plays with hard hands.

Y'all love to throw around that word "talent."

In reply to Devin

Hand eye coordination and time to play the ball...that is talent and a natural gift all de rest must be worked on.

He reminds me of myself as a schoolboy. A few good shots, take the attack to the bowlers then, premeditate the shot and get out.

In reply to Oilah

Hand eye coordination isn't really talent. If you play any sport professionally that involves a ball and a bat, or something of that nature(tennis, hockey etc), you will require above average hand eye coordination.

Blackwood regularly plays and misses or edges to slips, so I'm not sure if his hand eye coordination really is any good.

He is a see ball hit ball type of batsman, and it's usually one shot; aerial over mid off, or aerial over the bowler.

If only you played the piano or steel pan.

Man, you don't have to prove you are an ass, you know...it's quite evident.

Real talent in cricket is when you have a weakness/flaw and you can correct it, or better yet, turn it into a strength.

Educate yourself and thank me later. Dr. Matser is one of the best on this subject.

What is real talent?

Please don't forget to thank me.

he is proving to be another young talent without a proper approach and plan to success. This leads me to ask who is around these players guiding them and what is Cricket West Indies ongoing role in player development? Quite a number of young players regress after four years or so, with both ball and bat. There is no evidence that there is any real intelligence running West Indies cricket. Maybe Adams can change that with time!

don't know what else you would expect...

maybe give him access to the "trini chics" thread

see if you get any response there.

I beg to disagree...what you are calling talent above is more dedication, determination and hard work. To me talent is made of gifts you can't acquire even with hard work. Your boy Kohli is a good example of talent and dedication and hard work, however if he did't have the talent in the first place even with all his hard work we still wouldn't have a Kohli.

Devin 2017-02-19 12:36:49

In reply to Oilah

Absolutely, it's a combination of factors, and I think that combating a flaw and eventually turning it into a strength requires talent and a great deal of practice and hard work.

Talent is important in sports, but it's all about hard work and application. At no point in time have I been impressed by Blackwood. Maybe he'll improve, but he has to acknowledge and address his weaknesses.

Tests: 22 matches, 39 innings, 31 average

First Class: 60 matches, 109 innings, 32.15 average.

List A: 32 matches, 30 innings, 25.18 average.

20/20: 19 matches, 16 innings, 12.92 average, 80.38 strike rate

Baje 2017-02-19 12:41:24

I have seen Blackwood play quality innings when all around him looked at sea, so there is some character there. However he has to start with the first rule of batsmanship:

Thou shall not commit suicide.

In reply to Baje

Quality innings? You mean he came out and played shots, and it came off?
