Quite A few Quality Players Emerging
In reply to Raggs
on that list I am only really only excited about Joseph. Partly because it is reported he is working with Winston Benjamin. Leveridge has pace and the attitude of a pace bowler. However he is challenged to learn how to really bowl while keeping his natural aggression. Shai Hope real test will be his next international outings. He has the appetite to score heavy but he hasn't been able to transfer this to the next level.

some of these talent are emerging some are maturing....i've not watch regionally cricket for the longest time but I see some very promising things this season.
In reply to Raggs
Well I am looking for players that can improve the regional team performances. Powell played good but we have produced many big hitting all-rounders without many of them being consistently very good. Until the administration can put things in place to maximize the talent of our players, our only chance is unearthing naturally great players like Sobers, Richards, Lara, Marshall, Roberts, Holding, Ambrose and so on. The only player I have seen of that ilk is Joseph.
Quite a few...I think you exaggerate
In reply to methodic
Hope, Joseph and Powell looks likely to make that leap. Hope was placed to fail but is showing he is ready. I agree with Raggs.Afew others stepped up.

I heard the commentators highlight the longer domestic cricket season as proof that emerging players are showing their worth. Yes, I agree that this tournament has allowed more than three players to raise their hand. Only a handful of them may make to the next level immediately but it shows that there is natural talent and skill in the region. I don't see no reason why what we saw over the past 82 games can't translate into success at the next level. Just remember; one reason people fail is because they are put in an unfamiliar environment.

Increase A team tours might get some staleness out and increase competitiveness
Wait till they play top international cricket. Then we'll see how much quality they have
My reluctance to be overly enthused is tempered by how many of them are probably more concerned about improving their visibility with an IPL-like contract in mind, rather than an improvement in their skill set for a long-term all format West Indies cricket career.
Nice to see some previous names are back with some strong performances and some potential stars are also making a statement with some consistency. But, we have been down this road before before, where we had our hopes raised and substantially dashed.
In reply to imusic
Agreed! Many top regional players have difficulties making transition to international cricket by performing consistently! We are hoping that Hope have now matured and will finally make that transition.
In reply to Raggs
dung heap quality!

Correct is right.
This is why the English tour could not have come at a better time.
There can be no lack of preparation excuse from the local boys
In reply to seaegg99
Really? Then he should have refused to fail if he was smart.
Doan know where you guys does get this stuff from......
In reply to seaegg99
which Powell, Keiran or the yardman?
In reply to seaegg99
I would also love to see WICB organise the something in line of challengers trophy that happened in India when they wanted to provide their players better competition.
That would be domestic and 4 matches once in each of the format would keep the competition going and keep the players competitive.
The pitches in this tournament was quite good and I would like to see WICB choose the grounds that are good for the tournaments rather than choosing on reputation or by default.
In reply to Kay
if you could not see when he was being force-fed on being an openning bat. Then i can't help you.
In reply to methodic
Yardman. Keiron a vet already.
In reply to Raggs
Corner Turned again I guess. In all these years you catch your tail yet?
Raggs this is one of the least talented class for years and those before them failed, except for Lara, Chandrapaul and a few others.
In reply to Slipfeeler and imusic ... could it be because they were rushed?
Shai Hope is the real deal.
We are looking at a Windian of class. Not just the runs. Shot selection. Game aptitude. Situation awareness. And execution.
Shai will make WI cricket great again.
In reply to Tagwa1... was that because of the players or the environment?
Perhaps it is a good thing he didn't rank in the IPL process.
In reply to runout... who that? [Shao]

I-phonism. Fixed.

You need about 2 or 3 of them a la Three Ws, Hunte,Kanhai and Sobers or Greenidge, Richards and Lloyd
Remember we had Haynes,Richardson and Lara...and when we dropped Haynes, we started losing.
In reply to analyst-kid
Bro I believe in the law of convergence. Talent attracts talent.
Right now, for the longer format, we have KB, Shai, Dowrich, Lewis
I like what I see
In reply to runout
agreed....would love to see Darren Bravo with this crowd though.
In reply to analyst-kid
Yes bro. He will be back in the fold. When he does, then he will be great at 4/5.
I am really impressed with what I'm seeing from Jason Holder...he has a delivery like Ambrose and bowling like Walsh.
I like Leveridge for tests though with Gabriel and Joseph around our fast bowler penetration looks promising.
Sometimes we forget really how young these players are. Given time, they will develop. WI selection should be based on a player's skill, application commitment and temparment.
In reply to analyst-kid
Yes indeed. If we can keep the quicks healthy, and have a few formidable allrounders in Jason and Rovman we will be contending with the bigger boys.
In reply to imusic
Right on.
Hamilton is a special talent guys come on! You cannot deny this kid's talent. Leewards talent like Powell, Joseph, Cornwall and Hamilton are very exciting in terms of the regional game and more importantly, Windies Cricket.
In reply to Mr-Anguilla
Hamilton batting will have to improve, if he is given the gloves ahead of Dowrich, Hope, Ambris or Walton
Pooran may be the guy with the gloves in the T20 format
In reply to Mr-Anguilla
If Hamilton can displace his competition then he should move to the head of the class.
In reply to Mr-Anguilla
Bro, whenever the Leewards can bring talent to the regional game it means exciting times for WI cricket.
In reply to analyst-kid
Amen! Would like to see Walters partnering Joseph with the new ball.
In reply to Mr-Anguilla
If Hamilton keeps batting like he is doing right now, he will make the Windies side, even as a pure batsman

At season's beginning I thought that this was the best Leeward's team I had seen in years. When all regional teams are strong, we will start to compete internationally again
WI need an unbias fan base crowd and selectors in order to make it back to the respectability of Test and ODI.
Right now each selector needs his homie on the team even tho he is unworthy of being selected.
I wish all the Guys Good Luck ; however in my opinion success will be
determined , by whether the standard of Cricket in the Region is on par with the standard of other International Teams .
That factor I believe , is very important . So this tour by England
will be a test to assess whether the
Standard of Cricket in the Region in
the longer versions of the game has markedly improved .
So WE are going to have in essence a
yardstick , to measure the progress or non progress of our Players in this format of the game , in the International Cricket Arena .
