Guess fair answer to Dowrich's inclusion

positiveg 2017-02-21 19:20:57

Not bad explanation about Ambris ' exclusion as well.
Gusset they want all these guys to keep pushing. I hope they keep the same benchmark

positiveg 2017-02-21 19:23:05

No to Shiv being recalled.
However, I think if Shiv is asked he would put Windies over County Cricket

Dowrich selection, he did well enough in test, so we giving him time to cross over, they could not measure his performance because of the number of the situation of the games when he batted
Ambris, is will receive by the selection, the present team is now developing, you may see him this year, because there is an A team tour later in this year.
Chanderpaul is going off to play county so is ineligible
The players on the A and President's X1 are stepping stone to the International team
The training squad will be reduce to X111 players

After listening to the COS don't expect chopped and changes after every series
Players will be given a run, they are not going to drop a youngster after 4-5 games and select another youngster.

This team is the same team that lost to zimbabwe last year.Law does not even know this team closely yet so if they lose this series against england and that middle order looks incompetent look out.

How come no one is chatting about Bishop, the best econ of all spinner

lol lol lol

timeless99 2017-02-21 20:55:46

Very honest interview but he said Carlos was developing player so y give him the pressure of captaincy. He could of been a bit more clear on the Marlon Samuels issue and say why he is left out cz if my memory serves me well Marlon withdrew from the team to zim. Giving the excuse about shiv and county cricket is crap he should of just said no he was not consider but he admitted it's a rebuilding process unlike his boss big idiot who try to make it seems like all is well

Baje 2017-02-21 21:05:18

I hope that Law gets the final say in reducing the squad from 15 to 13

they are not going to drop a youngster after 4-5 games and select another youngster.

Why would they drop him for another if he is performing? Or are you saying if a youngster fails miserably for 5 consecutive games he should not be replaced?

Courtney Browne is the person you should ask, he was quite clear in saying, this is a very young team, and dropping a youngster after a series and replacing him with another youngster is not building or developing a squad.

All the contracted players will be Antigua, for medicals tomorrow, thats part of the program.
S don't be surprise if Chandrika is part Chancellor eleven.

Trying to make sense of selection is like trying to make sense of magic. big grin

That's so true, I remember Llyod selecting Milton Small ahead of Courtney Walsh on a tour to England, Small was sent home from that tour, and Walsh went on to be among the best.

When looking for players to invest in you have to look at players who is suited for that version and I am not afraid to say that kraig brawaith will not cut it in odi he is one of the worst selection he has no get out of jail shot he has no power game in test he is a good opener but he should be no where close to international white ball cricket.

Right now you building a "young" team with a lot of unpredictable parts. A solid base helps to stabilize such a situation until you know what you have. When others develop their talents to be counted on then you have the team where you want it. These guys everyone want to rush to superstardom is just that a rush. Adams or Gomes were not the most fluent batsmen but they did a job and the others batted around them. GG and Gomes innings against England tells a story. Why you think the scores are getting better from the young group on the last tour. Everyone attacks the whole damn thing falls down. Seen it all too much the last 20 or so years.

In reply to openning... as long as that's true, no issue here. However, how some get in the mix in the first place is ...

You have some good points there (must be the benefit of the recent seaegg season). big grin

The difficult aspect is timing. When to realise that Kraigg has played his part and that it's time to tell him thanks. Sentimentality and a potent mix of Regional cricket politics will not easily allow that to happen.

That will show if management have a good grasp of what they are trying to accomplish.

(must be the benefit of the recent seaegg season). big grin

That I did for the first time in many a year. Was there for Independence 50. big grin big grin

Talent is there. Just have to see how it is developed and molded into a team. Glad the competition for plays is getting back. For years Barbados and the Leeward islands have stayed on the sidelines with substandard players.

Great response...........
I think the WI fans/supporters are possibly the most passionate & emotional in the world, and we seem to have the fast food mentality - pick the last player that score 50 or took 3-wickets despite their age(maturity level) or track record.
I have no reservation with selecting young players but if/when they fail and they are dropped; despite the skill-level the player's confidence is now shot and they may never ever be perform well enough too be selected again. Remember all sports is 90% mental and 10% physical.
The approach that works best is too allow players to perform locally and build a resume (gain experience), and only then should they be selected.
We need to stop pushing players that have limited skills/experience but rather allow them to develop - it should not be about a personal agenda but rather the advancement and development WI cricket.

Small was ahead of Walsh at the time,he came home not because he failed on the field.

Agree. Always hoped the Leeward Islands would get back. When they are active they bring passion to the WI. Can remember Andy Roberts trying to destroy the whole Barbados team himself at the Oval with Findley standing up to the stumps for him. Dare to say none I ever saw was as good as Findley. Not one ball passed him. He just rolled the ball back down for Roberts to come again.
