Steve Smith's Hundred
In reply to CricketLuva4
Devin seh he get drop 3 times
In reply to doosra
Sorry, I couldn't find that anywhere on the scorecard.
In reply to CricketLuva4
btw
both smith and root runs in India,
Kane needs to take his average up on his next visit
In reply to doosra
Yep, he has 1 on debut, and made a pretty good 75 in October. I expect him to do it. He has good hundreds in the UAE and SL.
Smith is not easy on the eyes and more fidgety than Shiv but puts the runs up!
In reply to jacksparrow
yea he shuffles quite a bit...2 of those drops were shuffles that got big on him
he still gets it done
In reply to doosra
Have you seen a better innings on a minefield?
I remember Shiv played a good one in England in 07, we nearly chased down a 4th innings total.
In reply to CricketLuva4
Smith is a great one.
In reply to CricketLuva4
not personally, no

He played very well but was very very lucky !
He cashed in on his luck.... for that he deserves a lot of credit.
In reply to robbo
I don't think anyone could make a chanceless hundred on that pitch.
catches win matches and luck is part of the game. Considering what happened in the match Smith's innings will go down as one of his best.

Yawwwnn..your post didn't say anything..
Considering what happened in the match Smith's innings will go down as one of his best.
If it were Viv or Sobers, you would be wanking off all over the board..

Smith is a bad mon

Just adding context.... anyone that is dropped 3 times before he reaches 35 can consider himself exceptionally lucky... he still played well though.
In reply to robbo
I didn't watch, but is that right, he was dropped three times before 35?
India really had their heads up their own asses.
In reply to Devin
Something like that... certainly before he reached 50... I'm sure he was dropped twice before he reached 30... to score a hundred on that pitch takes some doing but I can never consider any innings in which a batsmen is dropped up to 3 times early on his innings regardless of the pitch a great one.
In reply to doosra
I may kiss Kohli's ass on this MB, but how does it feel to kiss white man and black man's ass for a living?
You should try growing a pair of balls, you may enjoy it.
Smith is an enigma to me.... you can't deny his stats are exceptional but how on earth does he score all those runs with that technique ?
In reply to robbo
Mitchell Starc scored 100 runs for the match, his contributions were the winning ones, as far as batting goes.
India didn't even get close to Australia's first innings total, even after batting twice.
In reply to robbo
He will be sorted out eventually. But with the start he's had, he may not fall too far.
In reply to Devin
Yep good point... Starc employed the long handle ....I watched most of it and Indias batting was 'horrible '.......I still think India will win the series though.... I can't see this happening again.
In reply to robbo
I don't think they've seen much of O'Keefe, so we'll see how they go from here.
It was a much needed kick in the teeth. They'll learn not to buy the hype.
In reply to robbo
Technique is not that critical when you are young and blessed with great hand eye coordination and reflexes. When age starts to take its toll that is when a good technique will be very valuable. What you have to look at is his technique when he is defending if that is sound then the extravagance of his attacking shots will not matter. He definitely looks a bit strange but I have not studied his defensive technique.
In reply to Oilah
Yeah he is certainly not the only player who has excelled with a less than perfect technique....the only time that I have seen him look distinctly ordinary was during those two Ashes tests in England on green seamers.... like all the Oz batsmen he looked absolutely clueless....a moving ball caused him real problems... it's just that his stats are extraordinary.... the guy averages 60 after 50 tests !.
In reply to robbo
Cyan argue against dem numbers
In reply to Devin
oh u feelings hurt?
is fake u did fake like dem bajans?
and the white people yuh wukkin for in to?
In reply to robbo
Its not the first time in cricket that a natsman has been dropped more than twice. Ravi Bopar was dropped 4 times in making a ton vs Windies and they still called it a very good innings because he saved the Pommies with attacking 6s and 4s.
