S&P downgrades Barbados again

International rating agency Standard & Poor's (S&P) has dropped Barbadoss rating another notch.
According to S&P:
Increased reliance on central bank financing of the still-high government deficit and the fall in international reserves reflect heightened challenges for policy implementation, the sustainability of the peg to the US dollar, and underpin expected weaker growth prospects in Barbados.
As a result, we are lowering our long-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings on Barbados to 'CCC+' from 'B-'.
We are also lowering our short-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings to 'C' from 'B'.
The negative outlook reflects our view that the government's ability or willingness to take timely steps to redress deficit and financing pressures and bolster international reserves will likely deteriorate further.
Responding to the downgrade this evening in a statement issued by the Barbados Government Information Service, the Barbados Ministry of Finance said the downgrade was expected and largely driven by the decline in Barbados international reserves reported in the recent Central Bank Economic Report.
It continued:
The decline in the reserves was largely due to legal and administrative delays in public inflows linked to various projects as has been explained before. The Governments expectation is that this situation will begin to ease shortly leading to a restoration of reserves to more comfortable levels.

I sincerely hope my fellow humans not making joke about the struggles of another country, not only just another country but a sister country/island,a neighbor,a home away from home? Sorry but I cannot support this kinda sport,if it's an issue that we really trying to discuss, assimilate and solve well fine, but looking for cheap points in this regard seems a bit off to me..
T&T ain't no bed of roses these days either ok..I certainly would not wan't my country to be the butt of any joke regarding it's struggles..
Careful op T&T belongs to me and many others here too ok..and Bim is more than chi-che and Fuzzy OK..
You can't be making sport on a topic like this, can't support that sorry..and as a 'new' poster the intent seems questionable, maybe it just seems so,who knows..but please go easy on our close neighbors in their time of financial uncertainty no matter what you think about a couple snotty Bajans.
And if and when T&T get's another downgrade which we trying so hard to avoid what you really setting up yourself and T&T up for here?

This is no joke, note what I posted if lil England goes down it will affect us all.
printing 60 million per month to pay its expenses for almost 4 years and it will continue
sooner or later it will catch up to you .
why wasn't drastic measures taken 3 years ago when the administration was warned.
it was postponed and postponed hoping some magical spell will help.
now they bring back a former PM who started this mess over a decade ago to head up
a group . He ran the ship aground on the reef, the IMF is circling with a tugboat.
lil england have less that 10 weeks supply of US dollars in its treasury.
Typical of governments not tell the truth about its fiscal situation.
look at Jamaica, it paid a very heavy price but is on its way to recovery.
No one is make fun of lil england, I am just posting facts .

That's worrying. Jamaica had their rating upgraded from B- to B recently. I think Trinidad is either A or A-.

the sooner Fuzz's worst ever party to ever lead BIM resigns and or calls elections the better for BIM..
it is that simple..
I have stayed away from teasin the DLP supporters on here cause it gone past funny now...
and I know my buddy Sudden cannot explain how Sinckler and Freundel could now be begging Owen Arthur , that they lied about and cussed for years to come advise them...
just call the elections...thats all thats needed...the real work starts after this lot are thrown out of office.

to much freeness being given by various governments in the past
or it will be in big trouble .

The ruling party made a decision that may come back to hurt your opposition.
They have a year to call an election. They have your previous PM leading a
group to stop the downward movement in the economy. If a solution is found it will take three years
before any progress is seen at minimal.
Think, after a year and it doesn't work
What do you think they will say at election time?
The best of the opposition couldn't help the economy, why vote for them.
expect the above.
the problem with lil england, started a decade ago
no regards for savings when times are good and we have money in our pockets.
If lil england economy fails, the Caribbean is in trouble .
