There are no cupboards how can they be bare.

Who are the challengers out there that are in possession of yearly contracts or which social welfare recipients can we bring into the side?

Forget Chadrick Walton he is a "miss or hit" when what we are looking for is consistency.

Ambris...haven't seen enough of him to put my eagle eye.

Only one semblance of a player comes to mind...Rovman Powell.

Conclusion: There are no cupboards much less being bare.

Dowrich. but I agree with you point

Dowrich was unfortunate, in that, his Barbados team ate so many dot balls (middle order always had to push it) when he came in to bat, that he had no little choice but to slog. He could not get his eye in and hence his poor numbers.

He should have been picked on past performance.

25 years in mgt term is a very, very very long time for any organisation to sort out its crippling problems and if it cannot, then something is fundamentally wrong with the organisation.

And in any serious organisation, there would have been a radical departure from the status quo.

Nothing in the near future on the cards. Good luck Mr Law you will need it.

Jimmy Adams has the job of feeding the production line.

The structure to achieve success is just not there.

Instead of depending on regional competitions to select players...the selectors role should be spotting technical competence in promising young players and spending money on a rigid developmental programme.

This social welfare construct that we currently have will not work.

Pick 30 young promising players and pay them to learn in a cricket academy full time. This can be run concurrently with your dung heap.

"Without the box" thinking.

We are not maximizing or limited resources.

The WICB cannot afford the luxury of so many cricketers on contract and yet cannot find 30 half decent players to take the field for international games.

This calls for a radical shift.

What criteria is used for appraising contracts on these territorial boards?...non performers (by our performance metric) should not be given contracts.

In the land of plenty it may be considered...but not when resources are scarce and strategic objectives are not met.

On assuming the seat of President of the Board 4 years ago, Dave made it clear that his interest was in improving the finances of the Board. No where did he state an interest in improving the product on the field of play. The irony is his action (or inaction) led to a lawsuit that would have obliterated whatever gains was made in the Board's balance sheet. Thankfully the lawsuit was rescinded.

I am assuming that his tenet is: "money makes the mare fly"

I will not knock him for this.

Btw, he met a 2010-2015 strategic plan in place which was approved by the board.

Has this plan been eveluated and if so has the evaluation given the WICB flying colours and endorsed their excellent work?

These are things serious organisations consider.

Good organisations do not succeed by accident.

25 years and we are still struggling says it all.

Brother there is no exceptional talent in your alternative give. This is just a pick and hope game. There is no one breaking down the door as it were and this is what you need in a good sporting system.

We have no bench strength.

openning 2017-03-05 18:23:30

We just came off an A team and Tri Nation tours, how many guys were promoted from though tours.
The players with outstanding performance from the regional are Walton and Kieron Powell, they had five tons between the two, I am not going to continue picking batsman, that have not scored one or more centuries at the regional level.
Carlos Brathwaite is a major problem, and Kraigg has to get his SR to 75 or more, if he want to play this format.

natty_forever 2017-03-09 16:23:23

In reply to openning... so makes you wonder how these selectaz think. I see courtesy thinking along my lines of an academy. Will this ever happen? There are players playing in dung heap for over 5 years now. pick from that bunch and put most a these in the academy, add a few A team tours, enter them in the 4 day/OD leagues as a start.

dayne 2017-03-09 16:40:25

Some negotiation should be done to resolve the issue between Bravo and Cameron. Someone have to tell Cameron that it is not right to make public comments about the players under his Chairmanship. He pretty much created a situation where Bravo felt he had to respond.

In reply to dayne

Forget about Cameron...he is a proven failure (and only common denominator) who has been with the WICB for donkey years.

Fresh ideas are needed now.

Once again you are missing the point.

You are bringing rational thought, logic and common sense to the table. Traits not noticeable within the WICB.

Hopefully with Adams, Law and Grave a higher level of thinking may rub off on the others.

Having said that, I am not holding my breath because Jimmy was called in and got his first warning for stating something that made sense in his first public interview.

That is the kind of logic from the "educated fools" he will have to put up with.

Good luck to him.

Yep. My sources tell me he was told in no uncertain terms that discussing these matters in public is not within his area of expertise.

................

The other matters under discussion do not require a full brain to conceive them.
