Cummins is already 'on the ground' in Barbados. Ferrying someone else in is impractical.

So that shows a lack of planning. They had since Sunday to make this decision. No wonder we can't and will never move forward as long as we have these kinds of insular incompetents at the helm.

One strike against the supposedly infallible Director of Cricket.

Waste Indies cricket is dead! We have greed at the top and geographies down the line. Hence the reason for no infrastructure, planning and poor results.

Cummins was actually in the 15 man training squad ahead of the likes of Beaton. This is a selection issue.
cool

Will be interesting to see if Cummins gets into the starting XI ahead of Joseph who is in the named ODI squad for this series

I doubt it....but the selectors will know best

That has been answered very recently on this board and your information is wrong . Gabriel has completed more than one series injury free. The most recent being his last test series with Pakistan.

As for the selection of Cummings , a bit eyebrow raising in the sense that Aljo in on the bench. He was not a leading wicket taker in the last Super 50 . These selection policies are clearly not written in stone and change to suit some players .

That said Aljo would have many other chances all things equal and in the last year or two Cummings has been a feature in the A team. We can only hope that he grabs this opportunity with both hands .
As posted before our pace attack needs help.

It is and has always been obvious that there is no method to selection. They certainly pay no attention to performance in any Caribbean tournament. Cummings could not make his national team but he is suddenly in the WI team. Cornwall has performed in 4 day and ODI and was the leading T20 player in the Antigua league and he can't get a look in. And what about Ambris? Obviously the only thing that matters is where you are from.

TanteMerle 2017-03-09 04:53:17

Stop panicking.

Cummings only there to save on travel expenses.

He will not play.
Stop the conspiracy theories assholes.

I just cannot understand the west indies selectors and what they up to. We are 0/2 in the 3 matches; in first 2 matches we were bowled out before our 50 overs; doesn't that say something about our batting that needs to be strengthened? Gabriel is out why not bring Rovman Powell, who can win a game with bat, ball or fielding? The other thing is, Do they really expect to win ODI's with K Brathwaite and Bishoo, and leave R Corwall, Chase, Blackwood? Them selectors are all blind jokers that don't follow modern cricket

azadtnt 2017-03-09 10:32:43

Very ordinary cricket by a ordinary group of players operated by an ordinary administration. All teams have increased their personal and team averages playing against the WI in recent years. Disgraceful!!!

The same West Indies, "wearing sheep clothing".
