Just tells me how incompetent the team selectors are. Best young fast bowler we have for a while and he sucking the bench for big grown men who can't even bowl pass 80 mph.
Joseph is attacking and swings it. Done get a wicket and a drop catch just gone down off of him.
South Africa didn't waste time with Rabada, we don't even have the calibre of pacers SA have to keep Rabada off the bench but yet Joseph can't find a constant place in the team.

Failure to play Alzhari Joseph
In reply to jen
He is not Bajan......get with the program
In reply to Malachi
And Joseph on test debut out bowled all we other fast bowlers, against men like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
In reply to jen
In agreement with you...you just cannot have such a talented fast bowler warming the bench...
In reply to WestDem
But why have him, cause now that they have been forced to play him this match.
And even if he doesn't take any more wickets for the match, who will they replace him with next match/ next series?
Do they still keep Carlos in the team?
I mean is Paki we playing next, and Carlos ain't showing any reason why he should be in the auto XI
In reply to positiveg
Carlos should not be playing ODI's...he should stick to T20...they need to play Al Jo in all the games against Paki....Rovman need to also play...you lose two games in a three game series and the only change is due to injury...piss poor selection!
In reply to positiveg
Partner, for me Joseph have to play for Brathwaite. Gabriel, Joseph, Holder, Nurse, Bishoo/Cornwall aint a bad looking bowling attack.
Rovman will find trouble getting into the team once Carter is playing. I don't think Ravman bowling is good enough to justify playing as a 5th bowler. Cornwall is the better option once you want a #7.
I woulda play Ravman instead of Carter this series though.
In reply to WestDem
Yep imagine injury force a change, and you still ain't give an exciting prospect a chance..
Unless this is carlos' last chance.
I agree let him stick to T20
and we should just admit only certain players for certain format,. Can't force a round peg in a square hole.
In reply to jen
Gabriel needs to stay healthy this playing 1/2 or 1/3 a series thing can't work.
De man breaking down too fast
so he either stay out get himself well then come again or summen
There's a good break between now and when Paki's come right?
Nopes, just checked month end they'll be here.
So then the team has got to be picked early and we can't keep giving these guys chances upon chances
Carlos done cinch since the remember the name. i don't know if gone to his head or he stop training we just really need to let him get his head right. Maybe a drop will fix that.
In reply to WestDem
Believe me guys if we didn't call them out yesterday, they were certain to use Cummins to replace Gabriel. National Pride takes precedence over a WI win!
In reply to positiveg
See, West Indies want try hide shame that they have a T20 skipper that can't make the Windies ODI team, but that don't mek sense. Specialists is a common thing today. Let the man play T20s alone. His fast 20s will be valuable there.
In reply to jen
common sense is not a requisite to be working for CWI
Carlos, Rovman et al are off to IPL next so at least we know the team will change for the next series - phew!
In reply to jen
They did the same thing on his test debut. Conventional wisdom would've told them that since he's already in the team and will play, why not let him debut in Antigua? But no... Our board don't believe in that kinda thing. God forbid they do anything that could boost player morale. Can't have the underlings feeling too good about themselves now can they.
In reply to aliaskid13
Yeah don't think about stuff like that
What better way for the man to make his debut but in his hometown?
In reply to jen
Rovman can make this team as a batsman, 5 batsman, wk, two allrounders, 3 bowlers
Lewis
Powell
JMo
Powell
Carter
Those are your 5 bats
In reply to jen
Gets Hales with a slower ball. Good bowling, just needs to attack the stumps more when the ball is old.
Get his second wicked
I think I'll have to go with what another poster said when they said Gabriel was the only bowler we have
Add AlJo to that too
In reply to WestDem... selectors trying to prove a point.

Wickets don't really matter in ODI's if you are going at 7 per....
Give me 10 stingy overs at 3 per without the wickets, then I will gloat
In reply to Kay... yes it does. If we take wickets which equals them being out after 30 overs ... even at 7 a over the total not that large.
In reply to DIEHARD
Lewis
Powell

Partner, which age of cricket you living in? If you don't bowl out a team, they will score at 7 an over. Brett lee and Akhtar was expensive at the start of they career, happens to young speedsters. With experience his econ rate will get better.
By the way, how much bowlers in world cricket bowl at 3 per over? if you under 5 you do well.
In reply to DIEHARD
What i mean is that windies will not drop any of the top 5, so ravman chance of playing is to play at 6.
In reply to Andy99
We bat these big hitters low all the time, I always thought Pollard was a 3 or a 5.
Russell should be no lower than 5.
Send these guys at 6 to bat with the tail, they steady running outta partners and under pressure.
But my post wasnt necessarily the batting order, cos Shai as the wk going be in there, but I was jus stating the 5 players i'd select as batsmen
In reply to DIEHARD
Got you. I do agree that we bat them hitters too late.
Over time yeah he can be a number 4 but right now I don't think he is there, I could be wrong tho.
Polly and the likes of Smitty too were always better when getting time to building an innings.
Russell thought he was always good at 6 or the last 20 overs, he was just a player who did his best when he can just hit out, no building an innings.
Joseph learning,
though Root scored his ton off him, he came back well to get his caught, taking pace off the ball
In reply to Andy99
Russell's best came when there was none to lose, batting at #7, 8, 9. Russell record at 6 no good.
In reply to positiveg
It is tough for a new bowler to develop under a captain like Holder, his bowling needs and experience head to help him.
In reply to camos... should have been used in short spells and at regular intervals.
