Team.. If I was a selector

Here we go again lol lol

I have no expectations however.

This side might still get thrashed

Lewis
Walton
Samuels/Blackwood
Hope*
J Mo
Rovman
Carter
Cornwall
Nurse
Gabriel
Joseph

I believe that's WI current best XI.

With Lil B and Russell to return to the XI by the World Cup.

That's our best XI

I agree with your Lewis pick because he has a 148 in this format and I believe that once he comes good, he can win games for us.

I also agree with Chadwick Walton rather than K. Powell or K. Brathwaithe...Walton was the only opener to make a good score against the England team and at a decent strike rate required for ODI. KB needs more work in the regional ODIs before he can play an international team and K. Powell just looks as though he will always struggle against a good pace attack...but I am open-minded about him and he can challenge again later after an A-team tour.

Forget Blackwood but if Marlon Samuels is available, he plays...nothing more needs to be said

I agree with Hope - he showed promise in the regionals and at least fought in the ODIs - would like to stick with him because I believe that he is an INVESTMENT smile

I Like JMo - he is under-rated but has fighting qualities and is also a decent off-spinner.

I think Rovman Powell needs an opportunity at international level - he has already showed his potential at the regionals.

I also like the Carter pick - before the ODI series, I was not a Carter fan but he showed consistency and aptitude throughout the series.

Jason Holder will play ahead of Cornwall...what can I say about Cornwall? He shows aptitude at ODI level with bat and with ball but will be a liability in the field where every run is important...but keep in the side and work on his fitness.

Nurse is a pick I will also back because he has shown in this ODI series that he can bowl at international level and in one innings that he may also have some potential as a batter.

The Angel should always make the team because he is the only genuine strike force that we have

Alzarri Joseph is also a good pick - he is young and hungry and WILL develop

Lil B will walk back into the test side but at ODIs it is a little less clear cut - if JMo is not performing then he may replace him.

Russell should replace Holder but as Holder is the captain, that will not happen...also Russell may not be interested in representing the WI...not enough money in it.

The only other players I would add to the mix is Jahmar Hamilton and maybe Damion Jacobs - Jahmar Hamilton has performed in the regionals and in the Pres XI game he showed that he is ready. I would consider Jacobs just to have a variety option in the spin attack as Nurse, Cornwall, JMo and Samuels all bowl off-spin and Bishoo is more test than ODI. Maybe a left arm spinner such as Permaul could also be considered.

So, my 15 players are:

Evin Lewis
Chadwick Walton
Shai Hope
Marlon Samuels
Jason Mohammed
Rovman Powell
Jonathan Carter
Andre Russell
Jason Holder
Ashley Nurse
Shannon Gabriel
Alzarri Joseph
Jahmar Hamilton
Rakeem Cornwall
Damion Jacobs

Great teams by both you and Diehard, why selectors not on the same page? Instead they opt to see pride not a WI win!

I think with Joseph Gabriel Carter and Rovman handling seam duties as capably as Holder could or better, Cornwall offers something else with the ball, he's a proven wickettaker, against SL A, regionally, against England, Holder's wicket taking ability's are questionable.

Jmo for skipper.

Cornwall with bat and ball will compensate for defeciencies in the field, I'd love to see him replace Holder and see what he can do at the top level, but i think he should be challenging for the other allrounder spot, Carter only seems to be good for 50s, so he's a spot too high at 6, he should be at 7 instead of Holder, and bowl more, if Rovman gets the chance, I think he will ton up before Carter does, for me he is an ideal ODI #6 for WI, the selectors are joking, I pray Adams and Law can halt the Bajan bastardization of the team.

I think that XI i named with Chadiwck, Samuels/ Blackwood, Cornwall, Powell and Joseph in for the Brathwaites, Bishoo, Holder and Powell is a much stronger team, a more aggresive line up more likely to score 350, boundrary hitters and proper talented batsnen who are in form.
