The squad, which is coached by Robert Samuels, also includes batsman Brandon King, who has recovered from respective hamstring injury sustained early in the Super50 competition.
Leveridge, who has impressed many throughout the region with sheer pace and menace, was initially included, but was withdrawn at the 13th hour due to what captain Nikita Miller described as a niggle. Pacer Marquino Mindley is the replacement for Leveridge.
Openers John Campbell and Shacaya Thomas, West Indies Test batsman Jermaine Blackwood, Andre McCarthy and former Scorpions captain Paul Palmer are the other specialist batsmen included. Devon Thomas and Chadwick Walton are the two wicketkeeper/batsmen in the set-up.
Leg break bowler Damion Jacobs is expected to partner left-arm finger spinner Miller in the bowling attack. Medium pacer Derval Green also finds a spot in the 13-member squad. All-rounder Rovman Powell is not included because he is with the West Indies squad versus visitors England in the One-Day International series.
Junior Bennett, chairman of selectors for Jamaica Scorpions, expressed satisfaction at having the services of pacer Jerome Taylor for this weekends four-day clash versus title-holders Guyana Jaguars at Sabina Park.

Talk about a wasted trip....
Scorpions Nikita Miller (capt), John Campbell, Shacaya Thomas, Jermaine Blackwood, Andre McCarthy, Brandon King, Devon Thomas, Chadwick Walton, Damion Jacobs, Jerome Taylor, Marquino Mindley, Paul Palmer, Derval Green.
Jaguars Leon Johnson (capt), Vishaul Singh (vice-capt), Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Shimron Hetmyer, Shivnarine Chaderpaul, Raymon Reifer, Anthony Bramble, Veerasammy Permaul, Romario Shepherd, Gudakesh Motie, Keon Joseph, Keemo Paul, Rajendra Chandrika.
He added that the focus is more on his teams execution than on the formidable Jaguars line-up, but conceded that 42-year-old batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul could prove a major obstacle.
In reply to mikesiva... Junior a Chairman, no wonder a finding it hard to criticize this team.
Aren't there flights from Barbados to Guyana on a nightly basis? Guess not.

Any input about how shepherd is bowling? Heard a lot about him and was hoping to see how he bowls. Unfortunately am not watching today.
In reply to Pacy
Only seen 3 overs from him ... struggling to watch today... I don't like the camera behind batsman angle because it's difficult to judge pace but from the very little that I saw I'm impressed... he got pulled for 6 by King but bowled a much quicker bouncer in his next over which went for wides over the head of the batsman (at least it hurried him up a little)... in the same over he almost yorked King as well... quietly impressed at this stage !

I've been following Walton at Cave Hill, it seems he put his books away after doing his Masters , and focusing on cricket.
He seems to have taken the knowledge from his studies and decided to open in the 4-days and fifty overs.
Lets hope the selectors are not like Deer.

Now it up to Cariah to bat and focus.

Not sure if Campbell is ready for prime time..
He gotta score some big runs instead of getting out for those paltry scores
.
So old Chanderpaul did not want to outdo young Chanderpaul, so he fell for the same score, or was it the other way around?
In reply to buds
Been saying the same thing... was really expecting much more from him
On another note...lets hope Walton gets plenty of rest tonight...Jamaica will need another huge effort from him

I'm sure Shiv serves as mentor and coach to all the Guyanese batsmen. I'd be disappointed if he didn't.
In reply to Runs
wah you mean. he strike rate is far better than kraig.in all format
Hetmyer's batting in first class matches has been improving steadily. He is an impulsive batsman who will murder the opposition on his day, but fall easily otherwise.
He needs to learn to graft a little, for those occasions when he isn't quite in good nick. Freddo, for example, used to dig in at times and grind it out.
